“The “Sarge” nickname came from his habit, developed early in the ‘84 season, of saluting the legions of LF bleacher fans who would cheer his every appearance in the outfield. In August, he arranged for caps with “sergeant stripes” and his name to be distributed to all bleacher fans.”

Jamie liked to throw to Coste quite a bit actually. He liked the way Chris called a game. Bako sucks balls but he’ll be gone next season. Vive la Marson

I think that clip was from Game 4 of the ‘83 NLCS where the Phils clinched the Pennant. I was there as a wee little tyke. I remember Sarge saluting the crowd when he got the curtain call after the homer. Good memory.
