Dumbass Breaks Glasses, Makes Dumbass Face

I saw this guy after Manny’s circuit clout, but just thought he was making a stupid face because he was, you know, stupid. I love the moment where his “O” face goes from happy to horrified. I imagine he had a similar look on his face when he first saw IbaƱez’s 8th-inning bomb. This morning. On ESPN.
A special ‘thanks’ to dmac at Walkoff Walk for the source video. Also, a hearty ‘much obliged’ to dmac at Philadelphia Will Do.

October 16th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
So I take it this is our official game thread? Let it begin.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
You know, making Padilla throw a few pitches wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Look at all those empty seats.
This is the fucking NLCS, Dodger “fans”…
October 16th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
All of the national outlets can speak all the shit they want about Philadelphia fans, but at least we show up in droves for our teams. I wonder what the attendance at Dodger Stadium is right now…
October 16th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
BEER
October 16th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Its a belabored point but it is so goddamn embarrassing how many empty seats there are at that ball park. I know its the middle of the work day and LA isn’t a sports town, etc. but for christsake its the second biggest city in the country
October 16th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
AS SOON as I saw this last night, I had a strong hope someone would find a clip and put it up. You guys did not disappoint!

October 16th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Choooooooooooch
October 16th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
Guys…don’t want to jinx it, but Pedro had a scoreless first inning. That’s good.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
did any one see what clayton kershaw was wearing? it was like fuckin alien sunglasses or some shit
October 16th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
i can’t tell who it is, but one of the tbs announcers is breathing loudly into the mic. he should take after that chocolate rain guy.
point goes to sarge and (ugh) tmac
October 16th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
black lava does it again
October 16th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
I love how manny didn’t even move for it.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Big Brown finally putting some life into this game. Aw yeeeeeah.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
J Dubs don’t confuse lack of homeruns with lack of production
October 16th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
I’m not. I’m impressed by the success the Phils have had getting on base. Definitely a good sign. It’s just that the only actual run we had came off of the bat of Howard and it just happened to be a solo shot. I’d actually rather we manufacture runs instead of getting them on homers. It would certainly give the announcers one less thing to criticize our team about.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
They’d find something else, I’m sure.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
i dont see why getting runs via the homerun is such a bad thing. a-rod does it all the time and he gets praised as the greatest player ever. so what? we stack our team to hit the ball 400 feet. i dont see why it matters if we score all our runs on base hits or homeruns. we score runs. that’s all that matters
October 16th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
J. Martin looked like he was going to cry as that pitch came in.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
It’s not a bad thing. Runs are runs, however it does get tiring hearing people bitch about how the Phillies can “only score runs on the long ball” and shit like that. It’s nice to see the Phils manufacture runs and shove it down their throats occasionally.
Oh, and fuck Russell Martin.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
apparently j. martin was starting shit with victorino yesterday when he got on first in the 1st. what a prick.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
What in the name of all that is holy is Mary Hart wearing on her head?
October 16th, 2009 at 5:49 pm
haha lynniemac…me and my dad have been discussing that all game. she’s gonna start shaking her rally towel to and fro in a minute.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
I’m not sure how or why, but I somehow hadn’t noticed her today until just then. She has no earthly clue what to do with that towel. She looks spastic with it.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
she just showed up like 2 innings ago…
October 16th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
I’ll admit that I tried really hard to not like Pedro and not get caught up in the hype because I always thought he was a jackass and he had Mets stink all over him. But after the Lincecum game I just couldn’t help but like the guy. And if he continues this gem I may just worship him for the rest of my life…
October 16th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
@Mand: That would explain it then. LOL
@Miles: I didn’t want to like him either. Then I saw him pitch in Reading.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
I hate russell martin i love pedro!
October 16th, 2009 at 6:08 pm
Okay, be honest: who would have predicted Pedro would throw 7 innings of 2-hit, shutout baseball?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
do you leave pedro in for the other 2 innings? granted there’s no trouble?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Never in my wildest dreams lynniemac! Pedro is the shit, man! And lets not forget about Chooch and the great game he calls behind the dish every game!
October 16th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Let Pedro start 8th and see where it goes
October 16th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
nvm…scratch that he’s done. dumb decision.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
ok never mind chan ho’s beard is comin in
October 16th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
We should not be taking Pedro out….he definitely had another inning in him at least. He was simply unhittable.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Even with him due up in this inning?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
mary hart got rid of her hat. its about freakin time she’s been in the shade for the last 6 innings. oh wait she didn’t get there til the 5th. my bad.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
im confused about padilla though. i thought the phils would have hammered him cuz hes a fastball pitcher and the phillies feast on fastballs. weird
October 16th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
yes lynnie. if noone gets on base then you let him pitch the 8th.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
I love me some Pedro and I’d have loved to see a complete game shutout, but I don’t know that you could really ask for more than he’s given today.
And now that Chooch walked, it’s moot.
I’m more upset that they’re taking Padilla out. He had that “about to melt down” look.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
Even now he could bunt so I don’t see a problem with leaving him in. I have more faith in him with a one run lead than anyone else with a possibly larger lead.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
i think i have faith in chan ho and happ. two innings two pitchers.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
just dont bring madson in.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Pinch hitter really helped us out there…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
should have taken the sac bunt there cholly…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
pedro coulda done that
October 16th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
chopper please
and then, um, Blanton
October 16th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Pinch hitter didn’t get it done, but Pedro didn’t get the bunt down back in the third, either. Sometimes the moves work, sometimes not so much.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Announcers are really riding Padilla’s dick. Besides you know…giving up a run while Pedro didn’t.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
is craig sager serious w that pink suit? i think he’s a parody of a sideline reporter! When did baseball start doing the sideline reporter? it doesn’t work if theres no sideline to report from!
October 16th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
I know that common practice is to pull Pedro there but I think the fact that he was completely dominant changes the formula a bit. I mean besides a bloop single and an infield single they have no hits. And none that were really even close. I’m not furious that Charlie pulled him I just would have left him in for the 8th…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
real classy dodgers fans…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Annnnnd Carray shot some precum for a SINGLE. Bias, serious bias.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
watch out for the shadows and pedro only gave up two hits and no runs so padilla did way better giving up four hits and a run
October 16th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
FWIW, I probably would have left him in, too.
I think Craig Sager is trying to be Don Cherry with those suits. And he is no Don Cherry.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
OMFG
October 16th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Every team plays 27 outs you tard.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Ah so here is where it all goes to shit
October 16th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
y r pitchers fuckin tards? they can never field shit. fuck!
October 16th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
That’s the spirit, Phylan. LOL
October 16th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
idk lynnie i’m feeling it too…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
This is worrisome.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
shut the fuck up ron darling. go suck on jose reyes’s dick
October 16th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
I’m really not sure why, but win or lose this game, I’m just not feeling my customary need to jump off a bridge.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Ohhhhhh Chase
October 16th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
when did chuck knoblauch replace utley
October 16th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Well that sucks.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
chase, what is your problem throwing lately?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
what is up with chase…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Yeah, anyone bitching at Cole Hamels NOW?
Fuck Utley.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Way to protect the win for Pedro. Shit. Utley of all people
October 16th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Fuck you Tony
October 16th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
its still ok cuz this run isn’t gonna score and the top of our lineup is up…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Well BigMiles, I’ll have you know I gave a shrug that would make Cole Hamels come over to my house, pat on the back and say, “Now you know how I felt”.
After he was finished filming a Dunkin Donuts commercial, of course.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
are you fucking kidding me chase
October 16th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
wtf is up with utley? i hate when phils beat themselves…though game isnt over yet
October 16th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
Now that’s some optimism, Mand. I just hope they come through.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
why isn’t anyone mad at howard for not trying to get his ass to that ball and save a run…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
you sure about that Mand
October 16th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
ok..i take it back.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
Okay, now this is a pitching move I have no confidence in…which probably means Mad Dog gets a DP here.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Who the hell cares about Kobe? I hate that ugly suit wearing douche
October 16th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Thank you to TBS for giving me another reason to despise Kobe…Mets AND Dodgers fan
October 16th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
not to mention its like 85 degrees there.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
ever notice how madson gives up runs and phils come back and win or win despite madsons best efforts to make them lose?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
how can these guys talk with all the dodger’s dicks in their mouth? seriously…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
fuck kobe bryant. from now on, he no longer is from philly. i’m kicking him out.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:44 pm
agreed kobe is not allowed anywhere near philly ever again
October 16th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
dodgers team “plays the game right” to get into the situation…how does that even make sense?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
jupiter, he never really was from Philly. He played high school ball there but that’s about it…so I have no problem with you kicking him out for good.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
cuz tyler walker the situation finds them…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Dodgers fan don’t deserve this.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
omg lynnie…mary hart is actually using her rally towel the right way
October 16th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
And rocking the Dodger cap. According to Scott Franzke, the fans have been told by the scoreboard to swing their towels. Perhaps it also contained directions on how to do that.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Well JA got out of the bases loaded jam last night so let’s hope he can do it again
October 16th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
lol yeah i noticed the scoreboard reading wave those towels! Stupid doger fans!
October 16th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
Haha lynnie that is so great…they are all tools
October 16th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
oh jay…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Cmon dude you can’t walk him there……what an implosion by the pen
October 16th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Franzke: “Right down the middle for a ball.”
October 16th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Freaking awesome…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
are you fucking kidding me?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
J.A. Crapp
October 16th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
this is one decision that bit charlie right in the ass
October 16th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
LA: “I don’t know why they’re not replaying that. I guess maybe TBS is afraid to show there might have been a mistake. I’d like to see where that was.”
October 16th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
wasted effort by pedro cuz chase forgot how to turn two. cant be mad at the pen this is what they were all season u just dont expect utley to make errors at second. fuck. dodgers are so fuckin corny. i hate em.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
dear happ,
YOU SUCK
October 16th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
shouldve fucking kept pedro in.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Even LA is noticing the bias. Awesome.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
thats all right…we have lee going sunday. and that pitch caught the zone…
October 16th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
That pitch was clearly a ball low
October 16th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Waiter. Check please.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
anyways i guess this game is over as seeing that the dodgers are the only ones that play 27 outs.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Due up:
Rollins
Victorino
Utley
There’s a chance to be a motherfucking hero, Chase.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Franzke and LA did concede the pitch was low once TBS finally got around to showing it. They made a valid point, though.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Come on guys, we can do it.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Also, you think Ryan’s saying “get me to the plate boys”?
October 16th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
No idea why they took out Pedro in the first place. Leave him in until someone gets on. He let’s him throw 130 pitches in a meaningless game, but today he can’t even let him throw 90? And what happened to our great defense? Three botched plays in that inning, come on!
October 16th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
mary hart is a robot. she didn’t even flinch at that ball
October 16th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Here’s your chance, Chase.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
At least Happ went down with dignity…
October 16th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
if happ got that pitch that was called a strike on vic we wouldn’t be here…
October 16th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
There’s your jinx…please…do it Chase.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
way to beat urselves phillies. fuckin horrible. they just played like the mets for one inning and it cost em the game.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
Ugh. Way to piss this game away. Shit
October 16th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
…
October 16th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
Carray went nuts for that final out. What a cocksucker.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
this is pretty much our MO. splitting the series the first 2 then taking the next 3.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Dodgers won’t win at CBP.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I hate Kobe Bryant more than ever.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
i hope kobe and russell martin get in a car wreck together. hate em. dodgers dont scare me though. we gave them this game. phils will bounce back and take the next three at cbp
October 16th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
Yeah, that one inning cost them the game, but on the other hand, they did only have 4 hits – 3 of them singles.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
So who is the human error wearing Chase Utley’s uniform?
October 16th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
His evil twin, Trace Utley.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
Chase will strike it big before this NLCS is out, you can count on it. Phils in Five.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:42 pm
I think Chase kills Trace and the Phils still win the series…I’m just bitter because I have tickets to Game 4. Wanted a sweep.
October 16th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Obviously it hurts bad to lose Pedro’s gem, but we’ll be right back in the driver’s seat when Lee dominates on the mound again. Then for game 4, we can finally let Blanton get on the hill and hopefully pick up where his solid regular season left off. It’ll be interesting to see how we handle Kuroda in that game since he was pretty effective against us last year, but hopefully his long time away will give him just enough rustiness for the Phils to jump all over. If the same team that showed up for Game 1 backs our starters at home, I’ll feel great about finishing this thing in 5. And maybe we’ll be able to look back at the end and say this little bit of adversity today was a good reality check.
October 16th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
While Kuroda was effective last year, he had Jamie Moyer’s debacle of a game to work with.
October 16th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
More like Chase Buttley, right guys? Guys?
October 16th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
I always call him Chase Buttley. *shrugs* So that’s not new…but…I still like it.
That 8th inning was just so disgusting. I mean, really? Can’t one guy from the bullpen take care of 3 outs? They needed, what was it, 5 guys? There was a lot of sloppiness there…and again it came down to Buttley. Or Trace. Or whatever his name is. Cause he’s not the normal Utley we know.
Did you see the postgame interview [the one where he was cornered in front of his locker, surrounded by media, suffocating]? His quote went somewhere along the lines of “We’ll have tomorrow off, and get back at home to play the game…saturday?” Sunday, Chase. Not Saturday. I don’t think he slept much…he was seriously questioning the day of the week.
But hey, last year we did it the same way. We can still win it in 5 like before.
October 16th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
this game was lost by chase’s error, thats it
October 16th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
I seriously still in shock.
October 16th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Chollie lost this one. Pedro at 85 pitches? Re-fucking-diculous. Hope Lee dominates the Wolf man on Sunday.
October 16th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
WHERE’S THE GODDAMN GAME RECAP DASH IT’S A FRIDAY NIGHT I NEED SOME READING
/wildthng’d
October 16th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
This clip is the greatest. It gave me a break in my depression from Utley’s error.
PHILS win in 5.
October 16th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
Want to have your very own Chan Ho kid?
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/33277233/ns/today-today_people/
October 16th, 2009 at 11:36 pm
I’d have a Chase kid so I could teach him how to properly turn a twin killing.
October 17th, 2009 at 1:51 am
Good lord Chase knows how to turn a double play better than anyone. Or does the fact that he’s fucked it up twice in two days make you spontaneously forget the previous 5 years of him doing it exceedingly well? Someone repost that Art of a Twin Killing video.
And I disagree with Charlie pulling Pedro as well, but all the things that set up that inning (Pedro missing a grounder, misplayed bunt, Chase’s error) could have happened with any pitcher in there.
October 17th, 2009 at 3:13 am
dear chase,
if you fuck up in game 3, you should be benched.
-God

There was a lot of talk about Chan Ho not fielding that bunt properly, but if anyone has seen the replay, Ryan Howard can take a portion of the blame too. The angle, or lack their of, that he took to field that ball was terrible. His first three to four steps were up the foul line and then he had to angle toward the ball. There’s also a chance they may not have gotten Belliard anyway with the placement of that bunt. As for Chase, he rushed that throw. His left shoulder flew open and the ball sailed. He probably had much more time then he thought. Damn shame. And Charlie really, really over-managed the game yesterday. 5 fuckin pitchers to get 3 outs??? I would’ve let Madsen face Ethier. No need to go to Happ. If this team is going to advance, Ryan Madsen has to be able to get that out and he can. He threw like shit on Thursday, but he battled with Kemp and won that matchup. With his stuff and those shadows on the field, I think he needs to be in the spot to get Ethier.
They still swiped home field from the Dodgers and there are 3 games to be played at home. As fans, we should still feel really good about this.
With that said, Kuroda has been tough on the Phils. In three starts (postseason included), Kuroda has a 1.42 ERA in 19 innings, 9 H, 15K and 4 BB against the Fightins. I expect the fans and the weather to play major factors in his performance.

I bet Kuroda will think twice about throwing at Victorino’s head after what happened to him earlier this year.

OK. This game was NOT solely lost by Utz’s error..but it was a seriously damning force for it. Thome’s basehit would have tied that game anyhow, assuming that with two outs, Charlie decided to pitch to him with a base open and a man at third. Of course, it also paved the way for the walk-in go ahead run.
I feel that maybe Madson should have been the guy to go to there instead of Park…woulda, coulda, shoulda and all that.
Chase has got to be better than that but there’s a lot of series left. Homefield ad-in for the Fightins’, bitches.

Dear God,
If Chase fucks up in Game 3 and he’s benched, who from this roster would you suggest take his place at 2nd base?
