willH. should I just kill the suspense??

To everyone pondering how you can make 8 outs in 7 plate appearances......you ground into a double play. Which Feliz did in the top of the 7th in Game 1.

I don't think any Yankee fan expected A.J to pitch that well. Andy Four Rings on the other hand, well, he's the type that fists burn victims. Luckily for us, Hamels is into that sort of thing.

This team, regardless of what happens in this series, is that best TEAM I've ever seen. They embody that word in every sense of it. When these guys get old and retired, who knows if the Phils will ever be this good again. Baseball is cyclical, just like life, and a decade from now, we could end up like the shitty Mets and the mid to late 90s Phillies. You never know. With that said, we should appreciate just how special this team really is.

will, your comment #124 was fanominal.

Non-newbie, I don't think Pete knows what happened. There were a few other issues too (Pete couldn't approve some and couldn't publish others, for instance), so I think there were just a bunch of glitches going on.

PhotographerN, my BA is tied with yours and A-Rod's. I'd be willing to settle for 1/100th of what he makes.

Ozzie, I think Burnett also threw 23 of 26 (or thereabouts) first pitch strikes overall, as well.

A.J. Burnett was simply dominating, the Phils couldn't get to him. Plain and simple, this loss falls on the Phils offense. Pedro did his job and kept the Phils in the game. Unlike some of the people here, I don't think Charlie was idiot by starting Pedro last night. Pedro had the experience and wherewithal to start that game last night. A.J. Burnett is a gamble in these spots and he came up big last night. Give him credit. We had a chance in the eighth and blew it. I figured with the walk to Rollins and the single to Victorino, Utley was going to at least tie the game. But unfortunately, he grounded into an inning-ending double play. That's baseball. Win or lose, I can't get mad at this team. The Phils have been real good this past decade. This is probably, if you think about it, the winningest team in baseball this decade outside of the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Twins, and Cardinals.

I realilze I'm talking to myself here, but to give credence about Feliz swinging early and often:

Feliz has made eight outs in seven plate appearances on just 19 pitches.

Just saw this on ESPN.com. Burnett threw a first pitch strike to the first 11 Phillies batters of the game.

Burnett threw well and took advantage of an expansive strike zone. And Pedro threw one hell of a game too. He made a mistake to Texiera and the ball to Matsui wasn't the worst pitch in the world. Down and in is a bad location for a lefty but I've seen worse pitches made. I think I would've backed the pitch prior the homerun up with another change up, but that's why I'm in the comfort of my living room and not on the field. Pedro kept the Phillies in the game and for a starting pitcher that's really all you can ask. I don't understand all of the banter from Yankees fans as if Pedro got lit up by that lineup. He absolutely held his own.

@Deej: Couldn't agree more. The Phils seemed to be waiting for Burnett to implode instead of making him implode by being agressive early in the count. There's a time and place for swinging at the first pitch (Pedro Feliz has not gotten this memo throughout the playoffs) but you can be overly patient too. Burnett clearly wanted to come out of the shoot and establish the fastball early in the game and early in the count. That's a pretty darn good time to start swinging because after those fastballs, a hitter is at the mercy of the pitcher. And by being too patient they were at his mercy. They'll make the necessary adjustments. This team is right where it needs to be.
