How many times can the Phillies really afford to just throw guys out there and hope for the best. The guy is a .500 pitcher, all around too, which is kind of weird. I hope by the week after the all star break, enough teams will go into sell mode and hopefully we can get someone.

Believe me, beating the Mets is never a bad thing, only good. Especially when the Phils can gain a game on the Marlins. This race might not come down to 2, or 3 teams this year, but maybe 4, and that worries me a little, just because, how many times can you pull a rabbit out of the hat?

Lopez pitched for several seasons in Baltimore. Was phenomenal as a rookie, then had a couple decent seasons and a couple lousy ones. Pat Gillick tried to trade Pat Burrell for him in ‘06, but Pat the Bat nixed the deal with his no-trade clause. Lopez last pitched for Colorado in ‘07, but underwent Tommy John surgery during the season and was not a part of that team’s playoff run. He missed all of last season, and pitched for Mexico in the WBC this year, after which the Phils signed him to a minor league contract

Gotta like what we saw out of Rodrigo tonight. If he sticks around and has some success over 3-4 starts, it may be time to expand the Rodrigo’s Amigo’s campaign that we saw for a second tonight.

I’m also really happy with the way Jimmy’s been swinging the bat over the last two games. Just looks like a much better approach at the plate and he’s getting good swings on the ball.

I kind of see where some people are going with the ‘RBI is a misleading and outdated stat’ argument.

But I know that 7 RBI were pretty important during this game.
