July 10 Game Recap: Phillies 3, Pirates 2
Posted by Dash Treyhorn at 11:03 pm ET 3 Comments

What happened?

Joe Blanton was solid over seven plus and the bullpen held it down to secure the Phils’ seventh win in their last eight.

Who did what?

Joe Blanton (W, 6-4) gave up one run over 7.1 innings to get the win. He gave up four hits, one walk while striking out six.

Shane Victorino went 3 for 4 with two doubles (24) and a run.

Jayson Werth went 1 for 3 with a double (15) and two RBIs.

Brad Lidge gave up one run while striking out two to earn his 18th save of the season.

Zach Duke (L, 8-8) gave up three runs over eight innings. He allowed five hits and three walks while striking out six.

What does this mean?

The Phillies won behind another solid performance from Joe Blanton, and the bullpen shuts ‘em down.

(Also, I was at Benny the Bums tonight with our fearless leader on a mini vacation, so I am currently without all my faculties. The Phils won, so, Woo-hoo!)

What’s next for our heroes?

In game two of the series, Cole Hamels (5-5, 4.70) takes on Ross Ohlendorf (7-7, 4.63).

Bonus baseball!

I’ll be at the game tomorrow night in section 202, so please come by and say hello.

section 105. never go to a phils game without the camera…

  3. Watrick Says:

Heard a rumor that Phils would have to take on Vernon Wells and his giant contract to get Halliday. That’s interesting, but should make the Phillies not have to give up so much in return, right?
