CliffLee

Here’s the word from Fox Sports miniature reporter Ken Rosenthal:

The Phillies have reached agreement with the Indians on a trade that would bring them left-hander Cliff Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco for Class A right-hander Jason Knapp, Class AAA right-hander Carlos Carrasco, shortstop Jason Donald and catcher Lou Marson, according to major-league sources.

Wait… so the Phillies get last year’s AL Cy Young winner and they didn’t have to give up J.A. Happ, Kyle Drabek, Dominic Brown, OR Michael Taylor?

HALLELUJAH!

Like most people who root for the Phillies, I really had my heart set on Roy Halladay, that awful beard of his and ALL of those complete games, but Ruben Amaro made one hell of a deal here.   Kudos, Mr. Amaro.

And I can’t confirm this second move, but any minute now I’m sure you’ll hear Eric Bruntlett and his gaudy .200 OBP will officially be DFA’d.

You can hardly contain yourself, right? Me neither.

Per Ken Rosensquirrel’s “sources” — who may or may not be tied up in his shed — the Phillies have found their Geoff Jenkins replacement. Welcome to Philly, Fat Matt!

The Phillies, adding a left-handed hitter to their bench, have acquired outfielder Matt Stairs from the Blue Jays, according to major-league sources.

The Jays will receive a prospect in return. The identity of that player has not yet been determined.

If you ask me, this is just what we need; a lefty who bats .250 and strikes out twice as much as he walks. Was Russell Branyan unavailable?

(And no, I’m not bitter at all this morning after last night’s heart-wrenching loss, thanksfurasking)
