On Shane Victorino’s leadoff double in the seventh inning, two fans actually reached for the ball after the umpire ruled it fair. Did Steve Bartman teach us nothing?
Here’s a good rule, people: If you’re going to a baseball game and you have seats where you might be able to interfere with a ball in play… know that you shouldn’t interfere with a ball in play. That’s really the only rule you need to know when attending a baseball game. I know we all want to be instant celebrities like that little girl who threw the ball back after he dad caught the foul ball, but let’s not hurt the home team in the process, okay?
Everything else about yesterday’s game was awesome.
Each day during the postseason, Dan McQuade will write about the Phillies’ chance at a second straight World Series title. You can usually read his thoughts on baseball at Walkoff Walk. He thinks these people deserve much more scorn than that woman reading Vanity Fair at the game back in July.
Holy shit this looks fun.
While waiting patiently during a rain delayed Phillies/Nationals game on Saturday night, a couple of Phillies fans passed the time by running onto the field and hydroplaning across the soaking wet tarp. Apparently, Nationals security views this as more of an ejectable offense than a good ol’ time, and the two gentlemen(?) were apprehended as soon as their slide came to a halt.
For my own personal enjoyment, I think I’ve watched well over 200 total YouTube videos of the World Series celebration and/or victory parade. While most are horribly filmed wastes of time, there are some gems in there if you’re patient enough.
Take this one for example…
A young Phillies fan — I’d imagine he’s about 2½ — stood on the sidewalk of Broad St. near City Hall to get his picture taken. But when he raised his arms, the crowd around him erupted like he was the commander of cheering. With the little guy sensing he had an entire city block eating out of the palm of his hands, he tried to see how long he could keep ‘em going. Enjoy perhaps the coolest thing you’ll see all day:
From the clever outfield fans who brought you “Ruth did it on Hot Dogs & Beer…” comes this beauty of a sign that welcomed Manny as he jogged out to left field in the bottom of the 1st. Apparently, they don’t approve of Joe Torre’s grooming edict and think just like Manny’s hair, the Dodgers will soon be gone:

For the most part, the Phillie Phanatic is the most infallible mascot around who wouldn’t dare get booed in Philadelphia under any circumstances. BUT there is also a cardinal rule the fans of Citizens Bank Park swear by — if any fan is in position to catch a foul ball and doesn’t haul it in, he or she gets mercilessly booed to the point of humiliation.
Unfortunately for the fuzzy green fella, he happened to misplay a weak foul into the crowd on the third base side this evening, and the fans were forced to decide…
Do they boo him, or give him the benefit of the doubt and let it slide? Take a look:
Two trendsetting fans of the Phillies have been popping up at The Bank recently paying tribute (in their own, unique sort of way) to former Phillies legends and current broadcasters, Larry Anderson and Sarge Matthews. Adorned in the freshest of the Mitchell & Ness’, fake ’staches, afros and American headwear; these gentleman have raised the bar for any so-called fan that dares walk through the turnstyle claiming to be a fashion connoisseur.
Consider me jealous, fellas.

After the jump, check out the video and side-by-side comparisons to their counterparts in the booth…
Check out the gaul on this Red Sox fan in the following video. He’s all strutting around the parking lot and shit like the elitist Bostonian that he is. I can’t friggin’ stand these guys anymore.
“Oooooohhhh, check out all my championships,” he was probably saying in a condescending tone.
Well — we don’t take that shit around here. So a Phillies fan, rightfully so, put him in his place.
WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE. LOTS OF IT.
