PITCHING MATCHUP:
Roy Oswalt (3-2) 2.60 ERA
PHILLIES: For some reason it doesn’t feel like Oswalt is pitching every 5th day. More like every 2 weeks or something. I know he was on a mission trip and then the DL and all that but still. It’s weird.
John Lannan (2-5) 4.40 ERA
NATINALS: He is still winless against the Phillies. Please let them keep it that way.

Also, apologies for nothing but game threads lately, seems to have been a slow week. But we all know Wheels and T-Mac can only go so long before giving us something to work with.

PITCHING MATCHUP:
Cliff Lee (4-4) 3.50 ERA
PHILLIES: I think MLB.com’s scouting report pretty much says it all: Lee is 2-2 with a 2.98 ERA in six May starts. The Phillies scored five runs for him in those first five starts before scoring 10 runs for him Thursday in a victory over the Reds. Lee is 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA in three career starts against Washington.
Jason Marquis (5-2) 4.26 ERA
NATINALS: The above number with a hat on is Jason Marquis’ ERA against the Phillies the past 2 years. Yea.

PITCHING MATCHUP:
Roy Halladay (6-3) 2.35 ERA
PHILLIES: Roy wants to get this game over as fast as possible so he can first run up and down every step in Natinals Park and then finish the day by grilling the entire team food. He’s mostly grilling whatever Roy Oswalt killed yesterday, but I’m sure Kyle Kendrick will ask for some pussy ass veggie burger or something in which case Halladay will just stare at him until he walks away feeling stupid.
Livan Hernandez (3-6) 3.71 ERA
NATINALS: Sticking with the grilling/cooking theme, this is Livan Hernandez as Guy Fieri. Guy Fieri is a pretty humongous douche. So what I’m trying to get across is Livan Hernandez is a douche. That is all.

PITCHING MATCHUP:
Roy Halladay (4-1) 2.14 ERA
PHILLIES: Complete games. Strikeouts. Wins. Perfect games. No hitters. Baseball porn. Roy Halladay.
John Lannan (2-3) 3.78 ERA
NATINALS: If you get the reference you are awesome.
Jayson Werth made his return to Philadelphia for the first time since signing the mega deal for $127 million with the Washington Natinals and the reaction was, well, interesting. At first it seemed those booing had the louder voice, but quickly it seemed it turned to mostly cheers.
To me, there is no reason to boo the guy. He played good here, took an assload of money, and was an integral part of the Phillies 2008 World Fucking Championship. As you can see in the picture above some idiots still felt the need to make unoriginal signs that didn’t even make me crack a slight smile. At least put some effort in dickbag. Video of his return after the jump.
Once again a screen shot says it all.
Clifton took the mound after a poor performance in Atlanta and definitely did not disappoint. He went the distance with 12 K’s and only 1 walk, which was the first thing he talked about when he was interviewed post game by Sarge. This is the first time two Phillies pitchers have thrown back to back complete games since May 11-12, 1999 when Curt Schilling and Paul Byrd(aka Jim Gaffigan with a hat on) did it. Something tells me it won’t be the last.
The offense was non-existent for the first 5 innings until in the 6th Chooch hit a solo homer to left to not only break up the shut out, but also the perfect game. So completes another series win for The Fightins and now it’s time to head home and destroy the fish, starting with little Roy possibly throwing the third complete game in a row?

PITCHING MATCHUP:
Cliff Lee (1-1) 7.84 ERA
PHILLIES: So, I guess we weren’t quite around for this. I’d love to use this little blurb to react about how amazing it is that Clifton returned, but instead I’ll just sit here and smile(possibly fapping).
Jordan Zimmermann (1-1) 3.18 ERA
NATINALS: Uhm, he throws right handed? That’s about all I know about him. And he was a rookie last year and is apparently kind of good. Also, he looks like this guy that went to my high school who spoke like he had a bag of marbles in his mouth. That has nothing to do with Zimmermann’s pitching I guess, but I think that kid ended up working at a Sheetz in Altoona. Which is more successful than this guy is going to be pitching against the Phillies.
