Yikes. The Marlins continue to flummox the Phillies as they try to claim one of two available postseason berths. Myers looked like his old self tonight (and in case you were wondering, that’s NOT good), giving up 10 runs in just four innings of work.
The Phillies need six runs in the top of the ninth to come back from a 14-8 deficit. (UPDATE: Nope. Werth, Howard and Victorino all struck out swinging. Is anyone else alarmed by Florida’s recent surge? OK, good, so it’s not just me.)
The Brewers did their part to keep the door open, falling 11-2 to the Cincinnati Reds. Man, it must suck to be in the Milwaukee clubhouse these days….
In the meantime, we’ll see if Atlanta can score some runs in the late innings to keep the Mets half-a-game behind us. As of this moment, however, Philly and New York are tied for first place.
