Hey listen, I’m not one to loosely throw around the term “discriminatory” or “racist”, but I’ll be damned if the Phillies aren’t openly mocking my nationality on Friday, July 24th against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Personally, I probably never would have even noticed it, because, let’s face it, I’m not too bright.  But thankfully there are more intelligent people on the internet who can spot such a travesty and bring it to light.  Today, that such person is Blister Keaton, proprietor of the blog Ahhhh, Phooey!.

What Blister discovered when he went to Phillies.com to order tickets was DISTURBING.

Ever since the great Spider Man 2 base advertising debacle of aught-four, MLB has taken whatever summer movie that needs advertising the most and proudly displayed it on the schedule portion of each team’s home page.  This year, that shitty movie is the David Wright-approved G-Force.

Here’s a screen shot from Phillies.com featuring the advert (click to enlarge):

On the surface it seems innocent enough.  A dumb Disney movie about guinea pigs being forced upon possible ticket-buyers by Major League Baseball.   Harmless, right?

WRONG!

Why don’t we delve a little deeper and click the asterisk on said date:

OUTRAGE!!!

Do you think it’s just a coincidence that the Phillies are holding Italian Heritage Night on the same date that a movie comes out about talking GUINEA pigs?

Did the Phillies just call me a fucking guinea?  I think so.

Well I’m not gonna stand for that shit.  So, to protest, I am LEAVING PHILADELPHIA for the entire weekend and heading to Boston to catch a Red Sox game at Fenway.    And NO, I did not have this trip planned months in advance with special discounted $69 one-way fares to and from Providence, RI courtesy of Southwest Airlines, thankyouverymuch.

It’s a genuine, spur-of-the-moment protest to stand up for what I believe in.  And what I believe in is NOT being referred to as a guinea by my favorite team.

Sincerely,
meech.one
