In the 6th inning of the Phillies 4-1 victory over the Metropolitans last night in Queens, a couple ruffians decided to mix it up in the stands a little bit. One was a Phillies fan, the other a Mets fan. Guess who won?

Watch for yourself (in GLORIOUS high definition):

“OH MY!”

Here we have Phillies right fielder Jayson Werth in attendance at UFC 101 checking out the fight in the stands in-between fights in the Octagon as seen through the camera lens of Opie from The Opie & Anthony Show.

Now, Jayson Werth is a freakin’ professional so I’m sure his late night out for the big Ultimate Fighting pay-per-view had nothing to do with his day-off yesterday against a tough righty, but there is a strong possibility that it had something to do with the way he half-assedly tried to field Chris Coghlan’s single in the 7th inning.

HOLD HIM BACK, JULIA WERTH!

During yesterday’s excruciating loss to the Blue Jays, some broads (and a couple heavyweight men) out in right field decided they no longer wanted to watch the Phillies game and would much rather toss some haymakers around. Being that we are The Fightins, I sort of felt obligated to find some footage of said fight for your enjoyment.

So far, this is the best I can do. If any more evidence becomes available, I’ll update this post with it.

FISTICUFFS!

I think all this losing at home is starting to take a toll on our fans.

Mere seconds before the 2008 World Series banner was raised high atop Citizens Bank Park, an elderly gentleman and a younger fellow took it upon themselves to settle their dispute the old-fashioned way…

BARE KNUCKLE FIGHTING!

I can’t even imagine what would cause these two to resort to fisticuffs as the World Series ceremony is taking place right behind them.

Oh yeah — alcohol. It was probably the alcohol.

Ugh. Baseball altercations can be so disappointing sometimes.

In case you’ve been out celebrating the Eagles win over the 49ers for the past 14 hours, here’s a brief Phillies update: The Dodgers whooped the Phillies’ ass and Hiroki Kuroda threw a 94-mph fastball at Shane Victorino’s melon. After Vic grounded out to first, benches cleared, people screamed at each other and the game continued. The End.

Here is video of the incident with Scott Franzke, Larry Andersen & Vin Scully’s voices replacing those annoying fellows in the FOX booth:

Some strange goings on at The Bank last night in the bottom of the eighth.

With the Phillies getting whupped 10-4, Shane Victorino was taking a healthy lead off of 3rd with two outs and Matt Stairs at the plate. Braves reliever and perpetual weirdo, Julian Tavarez, took a peek over and noticed Victorino was chatting it up with 3rd base coach Steve Smith so he decided to sprint towards the bag for the pickoff attempt.

Immediately following the odd play, Shane had some words for Tavarez to the effect of, “Just throw a pitch, Krueger, we’re down 6 runs over here.” That’s when Julian thought the right move would be try and start a fight with Victorino. Then, the benches cleared, the bullpens emptied, and the two teams stood around yelling at each other for a couple minutes. Not exactly a bench-clearing brawl, but it’s the closest they’ve come to fisticuffs this year. Have a look:

Afterwards, the best quote (per usual) came from the honorable Charlie Manuel, who had his own way of settling the altercation:

“If I had my way, you know what I’d do?

Form a big circle and see who wants to fight, I’ve seen that before and nobody fights.”

Coming in at the second best quote, Jamie Moyer chimed in:

“I’m too old for this.”

The Phillies are in Chicago this fine holiday weekend to take on the Cubbies, and so far, Philadelphians appear to be behaving themselves there.  Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Cubs fans.  Watch as a Mexican-looking gentleman in an Alfonso Soriano jersey whoops the shit out of some overweight Caucasian fellow.  According to the YouTube uploader, this occurred following the Cubs win last night, “These idiots were talking trash all game and it finally erupted into a brawl after the game. What a bunch of losers.”
