Pat Burrell’s prized English Bulldog, Elvis, wasn’t around back in April when his father came to Citizens Bank Park to collect his jewelry for winning the 2008 World Series. So yesterday, prior to the final game of the series vs. Pat’s new team, Phillies director of team travel Frank Coppenbarger awarded Elvis with his very own 2008 World Series ring. Well, it’s not really a “ring”, because dogs don’t have fingers, silly! Rather, it’s the top half of the ring lopped off and glued onto a sterling silver plate that they got engraved at the Things Remembered kiosk in the mall, and it’s easily the coolest damn dog collar accessory in the history of dog collar accessories.
Behold:

After the jump, watch as Elvis is presented with his 2008 World Series medallion:
Your 2008 World Fucking Champion Philadelphia Phillies are in DC as we speak gearing up for a meeting with the 44th President of these United States of America, Barack Obama. Thanks to the whitehouse dot gov’s trusty little embeddable live feed, you can watch it LIVE! right here, EXCLUSIVELY (that’s a lie) on The Fightins dot com.

Even though Opening Day is still a good two and a half months away, the Philadelphia Phillies were nice enough to provide The Fightins dot com with a sneak-peek at their promotional giveaways for the month of April, 2009. If you’re lucky enough to score tickets to these games, let this serve as your handy guide for the swag you might expect to score upon entrance.
Besides your usual array of Dollar Dog Nights, Rooftop Thursdays, and Heritage celebrations, the newest Kings of Major League Baseball have some extra special World Series-themed items for distribution amongst the Citizens Bank Park faithful for the new season.
So follow the post for your exxxclusive first look at the Phillies April giveaways…
Opening Day, Sunday, April 5th vs. Atlanta Braves — 2008 World Champions Pennant

2009’s very first promotional item is quite similar to that of 2008. A year ago, after passing through the turnstile on Opening Day, I received my trusty 2′ x 3′ white 2007 NL East Champions Pennant; a scaled-down version of the one that waves atop the CBP flagpole. Of course this year, since we are the World Fucking Champions, it will be a replica of the red 2008 World Champs flag. A must-have for any Phillies fan who likes to hang shit up on their walls (meeee!).
C’est Magnifique!
Philadelphia Phillies… you ARE the World Series Champions! (Sorry, had to be done)
After the jump, on a very special Maury — “My fear of pickles is ruining my life!”

If you’re as obsessive compulsive as I am when it comes to hording everything with the words “Phillies” and “World Series Champs” on it (A paper weight? Mutherfucking right.), you really don’t need me to tell you which Phillies DVD to get this holiday season. I’m assuming you’ll own them all. However, there are probably a decent amount of rational people out there who are satisfied with just one DVD.
Well, that’s who I’m trying to help out here.
A couple of things to get out of the way before we move on: Out of the possible purchasing candidates, I’m eliminating one — the 8-DVD box set from A&E Home Video — from contention. That is the ultimate video treat (the crème de la crème, if you will). Perhaps thee greatest feature on this one is you have the option of watching each game synced up with Harry Kalas, Larry Andersen, Scott Franzke, and Chris Wheeler on the radio broadcast. You can’t put a price tag on that. Including it just wouldn’t be fair, so we’ll only be dealing with the MLB-produced version 2008 World Series DVD; and A Perfect Season, written and produced by “Video” Dan Stephenson.
Also, The Perfect Season isn’t actually out yet. I think you can pre-order it through Phillies.com, or else wait until the 12th of this month and pick it up at The Bank. I’m just letting you know that I haven’t seen that one — so keep that in mind when I give you my opinion. (Although I’m positive it won’t even matter.)
ATJ, a quick breakdown of each.
SPOTTED! Making his way through the crowded parade route is none other than Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 from the Halo series. I’m sure this has nothing to do with the fact that the celebration coincided with Halloween:

SIGHTING! Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was also there, at 18th & Market, spreading the good word:

Here’s the in-booth shot of the final call of the 2008 World Series by Harry Kalas. It’s a shame, you definitely won’t be listening to Harry here. Chris Wheeler is going KA-RAZY!
