Here’s a refresher of the Phillies playoff run up until now:
If that doesn’t get you hyped for tonight, check your pulse. Cause you might be dead, homie.
(Thanks to the aptly named commenter Phils08 for the heads up)
Brett Myers seems to really be enjoying himself during these clubhouse celebrations.
Although the Phillies were supposedly a bit more low-key in their revelry compared to the NL East clincher, you certainly wouldn’t be able to tell from this clip…
While being interviewed by CBS 3’s Don Bell, Myers popped the top on two cans of Bud Light and gave himself a beer bath ala Stone Cold Steve Austin. The always observant Bell noticed that Myers was pretty good at it, to which Brett replied, “I watch a lot of wrestling.”
I can’t imagine it was a fun day to be a Brewers fan. After their team showed signs of life yesterday, all they needed was one big effort at home and they’d force a game five with a fully rested CC Sabathia on the mound in the deciding contest. Unfortunately for them, Pat Burrell happened and the Phillies took ‘em out.
Adding injury to insult for one particular fan, a young lady decided to take her annoying Thunderstick and wack her boyfriend in the cock with it. He didn’t seem fazed at all, almost like he was used to getting (figuratively) smacked in the balls all game long.
Behind the unexpectedly awesome pitching performance of Joe Blanton and the bat of Pat, the Phillies defeated the Brewers 6-2 this afternoon and will advance to the National League Championship Series against the Dodgers. During the post-game celebrations, Yahoo!’s crack reporter Kevin Kaduk (proprietor of Big League Stew), was on hand with his trusty camera phone and forwarded along this gorgeous shot of Brett Myers with a Bud Light in the clubhouse of Miller Park sporting the Redneck Recking Crew t-shirt.
The same one that ‘Duk also spotted Joe Blanton in last night:

Mr. The ‘Duk also has a fantastic shot of Jayson Werth checking his messages behind the protective plastic.
SPOTTED! Someone’s grandmother rocking the most sensational Phillies sweater ever knitted.

I just returned from the Phillies game. My voice is shot, my body is filled with unhealthy toxins, and I need some rest. I’ll certainly be back tomorrow with a bit more analysis, but for now I’ll leave you with this…
By request, Shane Victorino’s Grand Salami with Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen of WPHT 1210 am on the call. No questions asked:
After the jump, our little fast-talking hero speaks.

Sorry folks, today’s not-even-scheduled-anyway Glog will not be held so that yours truly can drink his face off in the parking lot in preparation for this evenings NLDS Game 2. Because, you see, I got a ticket and I’ll be in The Bank looking eerily similar to any one of the above fans from yesterday’s game.
This game (although the Phils are facing Sabathia) will ultimately be determined by Brett Myers. If he can pitch like he did against the Brewers two weeks ago, I think they’ll touch up Sabathia for enough runs to get the win. If he pitches like he did the last couple games, we don’t have a shot in hell. We’ll find out soon enough.
Until then, kiddos, feel free to join me in the back part of Jetro Lot (off of Darien St., across from The Linc) — I’ll be the guy with the Phillies Therma-Base Fleece on and a Heineken in my hand. Don’t be shy.
If the rest of you guys watching on TBS could do me a favor, I’d appreciate it: If anything occurs during the telecast that would be considered blog-worthy, send me an e-mail and tell me about it (inning & pitch count helps). You know, like the Carlos Ruiz nickname gaffe that I dropped the ball on yesterday.
Game predictions and chat are welcomed in the comments…

In just a little more than one hour, the 2008 Postseason officially begins.
Up first, the Brewers of Milwaukee travel to the lovely city of Philadelphia to battle the NL East Champion Phillies. I took a nice vacation day for the event, and figured I mightaswell man an (interactive!) Glog while I’m home.
This one’s a biggie, but I fully expect a gem out of Cole Hamels and a win for The Fightin’s.
After the jump, I’m steady gloggin’.

Me(ech): Hey, Todd, I appreciate you taking a few minutes out of your busy schedule to talk with The Fightins.
Just curious, where are you originally from?
Todd Zolecki: Born in Milwaukee, but I grew up in the hardscrabble suburbs of West Allis and New Berlin.
Me: Oh, really? Hmmm… I did not know that. I also had no clue Scrabble was any harder in Wisconsin than it is the rest of the country. Smaller dictionaries, I guess.
When you were younger, which baseball team did you root for?
TZ: The Milwaukee Brewers.
Me: The Brewers you say? Huh.
If you don’t mind me asking, where do you currently reside?
TZ: I’ve got a Philly zipcode.
Me: Oh, sweet! Me too!
I hear you work for the most respected newspaper in town, The Philadelphia Inquirer, what is your specific title over there?
TZ: I’m the Phillies beat writer.
Me: Sounds like a blast!
Being that it’s your job to follow the Phillies, I’m sure you’re aware that they are playing your hometown Brewers in the NLDS, correct?
TZ: Correct.
Me: Would you say – as a general rule of thumb – that most baseball fans who grow up following their hometown team continue to do so throughout their life?
TZ: I would say so.
Me: Interesting.
Okay, well, with that being sa- – OUT WITH IT, ZOLECKI – ARE YOU ROOTING FOR THE BREWERS IN THIS SERIES?
TZ: I am not, but I will say I was happy to see the Brewers finally get into the playoffs just because I know how bad Brewers baseball has been since 1982. But I absolutely am not rooting for the Brewers.
Not unless Robin Yount is back in uniform. Wait, isn’t he the new bench coach?
Just kidding.
Me: Close one, Todd. I was sure my deceptive line of questioning would reveal the truth. You done good.
