Here’s a refresher of the Phillies playoff run up until now:

If that doesn’t get you hyped for tonight, check your pulse.  Cause you might be dead, homie.

(Thanks to the aptly named commenter Phils08 for the heads up)

Following the Phillies division-clinching victory over the Nationals on Saturday, Philadelphia stations did a rather poor job of covering the post game shenanigans. Honest to God, after FOX went off the air, I had a hard time finding any channel with the exciting Live! footage that you’re accustomed to getting after the game is long over.

Although, just because no one showed anything good, that doesn’t necessarily mean nothing interesting happened. As phan_in_babylon, Clare, and James Beale pointed out in the comments of another post, Pedro Feliz and Chris Coste were riding around the field on police bikes while Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth were practically running people over on a groundskeepers cart.

I couldn’t find the Feliz/Coste video, but here’s Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth on a groundskeepers cart:

Jamie Apody should be quite familiar with the celebrations that go on in the clubhouse after a big win. While in Los Angeles working for KNBC, she covered 2002 Anaheim Angels World Series victory, the Lakers back-to-back-to-back championships, as well as the Mighty Ducks Stanley Cup win. However, it appears as though the current 6abc Action News anchor has never faced the celebratory wrath of Brett Myers and/or Pedro Feliz.

After yesterday’s incredible win, Miss Apody was attempting to get some player interviews, but wound up getting soaking wet from a combination of Myers’ Bud Light and Feliz’s champagne. Her immediate cry of “Not cool!” was completely ignored and after she asked Pedro why he’s wearing googles, he proceeded to pour champagne on her head. While she was struggling to see, he told her, “If you would have them on, you wouldn’t be like that.”

Enjoy the visuals, which aren’t quite as hot as last year’s Champagne Bukkake recipient, Jade McCarthy:

I’m sure by now you have all watched the FOX video of “The Double Play” that wrapped up the division for the Phillies yesterday. For your listening pleasure, here’s the audio clip courtesy of WPHT 1210 AM Philadelphia with Harry Kalas and Larry Andersen on the call. Enjoy:

The always eloquent Charles Fuqua Manuel was interviewed after the division winning game earlier tonight and explained the importance of winning the NL East (again) and who he’d rather face in the NLDS.

At least, that’s what I think was talking about. You know, like, judge for yourself. I love this guy.

Here’s the deal:  The Philadelphia Phillies were up 4-2 going into the bottom half of the ninth inning with the flawless Brad Lidge taking the mound to close out the game and clinch the NL East for The Fightins.  After a leadoff strike out of Emilio Bonifacio, Lidge (uncharacteristically) gave up a base knock to Roger Bernadina and walked Ryan Langerhans before allowing an RBI single to Anderson Hernandez. Then, with only 1 out and the lead trimmed to 4-3, Christian Guzman hit a single to center to load the bases for Ryan Zimmerman.

The sold-out crowd at Citizens Bank Park grew restless. After 40 straight saves, could this be the game where Brad Lidge would finally blow one? Afterall, he had only induced two double plays ALL YEAR.

Suddenly, with a 1-1 count to Zimmerman and a chance to secure the NL East on the line, this happened:

On this, the 161st game of the season, the Philadelphia Phillies have just defeated the Washington Nationals 4-3 to win the National Leage East titile for the 2nd consecutive year.

Big time game from grampa, Jamie Moyer, who went six strong, allowing only 1 run on 6 hits.

After the celebration, I’m heading to Benny The Bum’s in NE Philly to do some celebrating of my own.  If you’re in the area, feel free to join me.  I’ll be the guy with the Whiz Kids Phillies hat and a giant, shit-eating grin on my face.

Be sure to come back tomorrow (or later tonight depending on how drunk I get), but for now — pop that champagne and enjoy it. You deserve it.

Some store by the name of Joe’s Sports, Outdoor & More (which I’ve never heard of) have already determined who will win the NL East and want to start profiting off of it early.  And that team is…

…YOUR Philadelphia Phillies!  Congrats on a wonderful season, guys.

Unfortunately, they only have women’s t-shirts available at this time, otherwise I would order it in a heartbeat.
