Being as though I don’t follow the Toronto Blue Jays too closely, I never really understood the impact he had on the baseball-loving fan base up there in Canada. After the trade was announced, numerous Toronto-based writers and bloggers wrote touching tributes to the man who spent his first 12 seasons wearing a Blue Jays uniform. This morning, a website launched simply entitled ThanksRoy.com, which allows everyone else who doesn’t have a fancy blog or newspaper column to acknowledge the greatness that is — Doc Halladay.
But like most things that start out as good-natured internet endeavors that allow comments, people with evil senses of humor who could care less about your feeling ruin everything. Observe:

If you’re having trouble reading it, a “Roy Halladay, Philadelphia” says,
I’d like to thank the fans, you guys, for all of your support. Moving to Philadelphia is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do in my entire life, and I’ll never forget about you. My wife actually told me about this site, and it’s very touching. Now get a life and stop making these bullshit posts. Cito Gaston is a terrible manager, Halladay out.
–Roy Halladay, Philadelphia
Unless… that was really Roy Halladay?

I thought about deleting that comment.
I didn’t delete it, though. I kinda liked it.
I’m actually impressed so far. I can count the comments I’ve had to delete (profanity, spam, etc.) on one hand.

…but this one’s pretty awesome…
“I don’t care that you’re in the NL, I’m still the best pitcher in this league. You aren’t taking my Cy Young’s, fuckhead.”
