Like I said the first time I watched that: I don’t know what they said, but it sounded AWESOME! Viva RAAAUUUUULLLLL!!
June 11th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Meech,
You’re the god damn man….well next to RAUL of course. Thanks for posting so soon!
June 11th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
This is probably the greatest thing I’ve ever heard.
June 11th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Because I must share awesome calls (even those that hurt):
“Go-ahead run is on second base. Here comes the pitch: it’s high, towards right field, deep, Martinez is looking for it, back, back – that ball is not comiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing back! Rauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul Ibanez! What a hit!”
(tablaso = slang for hit)
And scene.
June 11th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
I was hoping I’d get to see this again. I love this…Thanks for posting! So cool !!
June 11th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
You’re alright, Metschick.
June 11th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
Hey, a friend of Clare’s is a friend of mine. Even if we’re enemies 19 times a year.
June 11th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
Does que chupe have something to do with Choke??
This was the highlight of the night. One of the awesomest calls ever, muchos gracias for the post!
June 11th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
That was classy of you, Metsy.
June 11th, 2009 at 11:02 pm

June 11th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
¿Como se dice “That ball’s outta here” en Español, Tug?
June 11th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
PELOOOOTAAAAAAAAAA NO REGRESAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Will that fit on a tshirt with Raul’s swing?
June 11th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
Truly one of the coolest calls of the season… loved it.
June 11th, 2009 at 11:21 pm
that call was el awesome. raul can stick it, grande time
June 11th, 2009 at 11:59 pm
Metschick: that was awesome of you to do the translation. Thanks.
Would anyone with far better Spanish skills than I possess care to write out the whole call? I’d appreciate it.
June 12th, 2009 at 12:02 am
I want the Rauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul Ibanez to be my ringtone.
June 12th, 2009 at 12:09 am
Thanks to my knowledge of knowing how to use Yahoo!’s Babelfish, I’d like to say to all the Mets fans out there:
“¡Una qué estrangulación por el Mets!”
Translated to: “What a choke by the Mets!”
June 12th, 2009 at 12:42 am
i gotta a nickname for ibanez
the mexican CANNON
June 12th, 2009 at 4:14 am
Yeah, I was totally pumped up when I saw this. RAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL IBANEZ!!!!
June 12th, 2009 at 6:58 am
Anyone else catch the expression on Howard’s face after Raul hit the HR? Dude was not happy.
June 12th, 2009 at 7:56 am
@Conrad-
I saw that too… can’t a dude be happy for his team mate? As a HUGE Burrell fan even I was happy for Ibanez to see what it feels like to beat the Mets.
What was up with that?
June 12th, 2009 at 8:48 am
@John
He’s not Mexican, numbnuts. He’s fuckin’ United Statesian.
June 12th, 2009 at 9:20 am
I wanna hear that shit in Japanese!
June 12th, 2009 at 9:41 am
i am so glad you put this up here!!
June 12th, 2009 at 9:50 am
Can this be made into an mp3? Actually, I’m just looking for the Rauuuuuuuul Ibanezzzzzzzzz part. I want to put this as my text tone!
By the way…I also noticed Ryan Howard’s look after Raul hit the home run. Not sure what to make of it. I can’t imagine him not being happy for his teammate. I was assuming he was just annoyed about his own strikeout!
June 12th, 2009 at 9:58 am
Good stuff. I knew thefightins would have this clip!
June 12th, 2009 at 11:56 am
I’ve listened to this about 27 times and it never gets old. Thanks dude.
June 12th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
For Howard: I think it was Pedro Feliz going to on deck circle and he looked surprisingly unhappy as well! I would guess they were just kind of tired, as it didnt really look like anyone in the Phillies dug out was all that excited. Out of like the 8 people on the video, only one guy was even shouting or high fiving. The other guys had subdued smiles and such. I doubt Howard is jealous or anything.
Also, great call!

i made a ring tone for you guys
June 12th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
Thanks for the URL fix.
And thanks, Metschick, for the translation. Babelfish butchers baseball terms. Typing in ‘homerun’ gives back ‘homerun’, which means the term wasn’t found. Even better is ‘home run’ translated to Spanish and then back into English: ‘homemade operation’.
Even better is washing the whole call through Babelfish:
‘The operation of the free route is in the second base. Here the thrown one comes: she is high, towards the correct, deep field, is looking for it to Martinez, buttock, buttock – that ball is not becoming! Raul Ibanez! What a blow!’
June 12th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
That translation is awesome.
June 12th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
hey guys sorry that link didnt work. the ring tone is pending. once it is cleared ill post a better link…hopefully
June 12th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
Thanks Jason. Yes, def post back once it’s cleared!
June 12th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
Spanish HR calls are awesome. They’re awesome even if I can’t understand it.
June 12th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
@doc,
I’d say that’s got about a 129% chance of happening in the coming days…
June 12th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I will name my first born after anyone who can get that into a ringtone for my iphone
June 12th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
I have listened to this 100 times. I want to start listening to 1480 and putting the TV on mute like how you avoid Joe Buck during eagles games. of course i’d miss the sarge…
June 12th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
I tried listening to the radio with the tv on, and the radio was a good 10-15 seconds behind.
June 12th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Home Run in spanish, if you watch baseball games or highlights on spanish-language TV, is a phonetic equivalent: Jon Ron.
June 13th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
@birdland/thefightins: Any chance I could get a PELOTA NO REGRESA shirt before my next game (6/17) or the game after that (7/9)?
June 13th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
Finally! I can turn the sound back on when i watch the phillies! I hate wheels, sarge and t-bag. i’ll be tuning in the spanish guys who actually have a pulse and are excited when the phils do something good!
June 14th, 2009 at 9:17 am
Seriously…. did anyone turn this into a ringtone yet?
