The ever so eloquent Charlie Manuel — as usual — says all the right things:

Thank God this season is over. I love this team but I don’t know how much more my adrenaline can handle! I am also happy we do not have to see that Jeanie Zolasko (sp?) for a while. She’s just bad.

The Phils finally win a title ths same year Thefightins.com goes online? Coincidence? I think not. Great job this season boys.
So what’s the plan for tomorrow? Do you go to McFadden’s and the stadium or get a spot on Broad Street? I’m guessing the parade will end with some type of rally at Citizen’s Bank Park, will you need a ticket to get in?
I need answers people, I have a lot of drinking to do tomorrow.

I still can’t believe it.
I’ve got my Phils shirt on a work and all I’m doing is smiling and hi-fiving. We have a whole year of bragging rights fellas.
I live in New York and sporting my gear for an entire year will make me the happiest person in the world. We finally get to buy the Sports Illustrated Champions DVD!!!!

Charlie Manuel will never have to buy a meal in this town ever again. Hell, if he comes over, I’ll make him whatever he wants.

I like Gillick’s reaction after she brings up Manuel’s mom.

I’m half way around the world right now (literally) and have been waking up at 4:30 in the morning to follow this run. This has been such a vindicating few weeks. I really hope this win dosn’t change the culture of sports in Philly. I like being a part of the toughest most obnoxious and hard to please fan-base in the world. Please don’t let this turn us into “Sawx Nation”

48,
This will change us whether we like it or not. Not necessarily in a bad way, mind you, but we’re not the city of Negadelphia — the one with a perpetual scowl, rooting for losers — anymore. We have a brand-spanking-new winner in town, and there’s no way of knowing what kind of ripple effect this might have on our other three major-league teams.
The Birds might not win the Super Bowl this year, or the Flyers and Sixers their respective titles, but now we know the possibility exists. It’s happened once, so… who knows? That’s the beautiful thing about this championship — it has vindicated our hope and loyalty. We have been rewarded for all of our emotional suffering. Our confidence has new life.
Look what a Patriots title did for the teams in Boston. It didn’t happen for the Sox or the Celtics overnight, but it did eventually happen. Who’s to say that windfall can’t happen here? Right now, nobody can. That’s the kind of change I think we all can live with.

CD, that is the most beautiful statement I’ve ever heard… Last night I was in tears, and that post right there brought more tears to my eyes… That’s beautiful. It deserves it’s own post.

Did you guys see Jayson Stark’s column on ESPN… As much as they didn’t want us to win, it was a beautiful piece to commemorate this win…. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2008/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=3672202
