The Laziest Post In Blogging: I Heart Blogging Edition
Posted by meech.one at 9:19 am ET 14 Comments

You know what’s the best part about writing a blog on a daily basis just because you enjoy watching a team so much that you feel the need to spend an inordinate amount of time searching for random news about that team and then publishing the results in hopes others will like it as well?

When you decide to take a few days off and then get chastised in the comments section for not posting.  It’s honestly the most rewarding aspect of blogging.  If, for some reason or another, I was ever forced to retire from the glamorous world o’ blogs, that’s the one thing I would truly miss.

I think it means you care.

And remember in the comments section when I said I was tending to my fevered son and figuring out how to work my fancy new video thieving machine?  Well, guess what — I lied.  I was fucking sitting around in my pajamas all weekend playing MLB 09 The Show for PS3.  And it was fucking great.  If I had enough cash stashed away, I’d take the next three months off from work and do nothing but play this game.  It’s honestly the first *perfect* sports game I’ve ever played.  I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to it.

Anyways, while I was sidetracked, there were plenty of other sites you could’ve went to for news.  These are just some of them:

  • Speaking of MLB 09 The Show, my former B&C adversary and fellow video game head, Brad Bortone, does a terrific job of pitting the PS3 game vs. it’s XBox 360 competition, MLB2K9.  I completely agree with everything he says. [Bugs&Cranks]
  • Never in my life would I think an interview between a fantasy baseball site and the head of fantasy operations at ESPN could be even remotely entertaining.  Boy, was I wrong.  I dare you to read this and not laugh.  [Razzball]
  • Todd Zolecki continues to go where no beat reporter dares and writes about the near-murder of two Phillies employees from a Ryan Howard foul ball.  Fortunately, no one was hurt, but it did do some major damage to the Bright House Field press box drywall. [The Zo Zone]
  • Good news, ladies.  Eric Brunlett grew his beard back!

  • Finally, those fellas who think they should be GM’s dug up a bunch of pics of Ryan Howard entertaining the ladies and caps their post off with the legendary Maddux/Glavine “Chicks dig the long ball” commercial.  DYK? That commercial was filmed at Veteran’s Stadium. [WSBGM's]

  1. GM-Carson Says:

I did not know that the “Chicks Dig the Long Ball” commercial was shot at the Vet…good to know.

  2. GM-Carson Says:

The Zo Zone, BeerLeaguers, and your blog are the only Phils blogs I check religiously (meaning a few times a day). I like other sites, but those are the best (I include WSBGM’s too of course).

  3. Gaze Says:

I know a few Philly bar flies that have fallen victim to the Ryan Howard charm… oddly enough, they are the same ladies who have been conquered by half of the Flyers team as well!

  4. GM-Carson Says:

    Ho-Bags!

  5. Kevin Says:

I check out here, WSBGMs, Phillies Nation, Beerleaguer and The Zo Zone the most. I also frequent The 700 Level for the entire Philly sports scene.

  6. Tartan69 Says:

In the WSBGM’s link, the chick in the pic with Howard right above the video (the one where he is wearing the blue Los Angeles shirt at the Public House) is porn star Gina Lynn.

I also think I know (unfortunately) a few of those ho-bags that Gaze is talking about…

  7. Tartan69 Says:

Also Meech, that is CLEARLY the old Busch stadium in the “Chicks dig the long ball” video. What tips you off is the rounded structures they had at the top of the stadium (best seen 12 seconds in) and the HUGE FREAKING CARDINALS SIGNS.

  8. john Says:

meech u mother fucker, but i forgive you :)

  9. How do you spell retard? Says:

    @Carson
WSBGM’s, theFightins, HousethatGlanvilleBuilt, and theSportsHernia are the only sites I check religiously. And by religiously, I mean suicide bombings and genocide.

    @Tatan69:

Look at this picture. Those are CLEARLY (well, out-of-focusly) the Veterans Stadium seats with the Liberty Bell on the side.

  11. GM-Carson Says:

I thought that was Gina Lynn in that picture, I’ve been known to watch some porn back in the day…and by that I mean just yesterday. Ah, who am I foolin’ (just finished off before visiting here).

  12. will.H Says:

plus meech and tartan, around the time this commerical was filmed busch stadium was already converted to grass. all the shots of glavin and maddox are on turf. it seems it was filmed at both and the editors played around with some of the effects. the two screens in center field are from the vet but the lining around the rim are the busch stadium arches along with the red seats. the picture of them running up the stairs is 100% veterans stadium. there are no arches in the shaddow and a siluete of the liberty bell along with the obvious phillies bullpen, like meech said the yellow bell on blue seats, turf and outfield hanging tarp. busch stadium had that awkward overhang luxerybox crap in the outfield–remember mcgwires 62nd, ozzie smiths WS hr.

  13. Tartan69 Says:

Yep, those definitely are Vet seats with the Liberty Bell. And will.H’s comments are all correct too. Seems like we’re both right I guess. Why the hell would they film some scenes in Busch and some at the Vet? Goofy. Still an awesome commercial though…

  14. John Says:

omg i watched that “this is why MLB 2K9 sucks” video, it was SO FUNNY, ” why don’t u put a fuckin ‘Manny being Manny button in there’” omg classic hahaaa
