  • Daily News wordsmith Bill Conlin is all set for tonight’s marquee matchup of Cole Hamels v. Johan Santana. He’s downright giddy, actually. Wait– Cole isn’t pitching tonight? Oh, nevermind then.   • The gasman over at Flatusyahu lists 10 Philly-related things he would part with in order to bring Matt Holliday to The Bank. Good stuff, but go there specifically to see the photoshopped Chris Wheeler picture. It’s fan-fucking-tastic.   • The NY Post thinks now is the time for the Mets to seize control of the NL East. And Billy Wagner hopes their fans “wear [The Phillies] out.” Per usual, I don’t give a fuck what the NY Post or Billy Wagner think. [NY Post]
  • A bevy of Daily News writers penned “10 things to know about Joe Blanton” Nine of ‘em either came from his MLBlog or his Baseball Reference page, but here’s the only one I care about: Blanton hasn’t given up a run in 15 career innings against the Mets. [Daily News]

Lastly, if ANYONE has Sunday’s CW57 broadcast of the Phillies/Marlins game (either taped or DVR’d), please (please, please, please) contact me. Sarge Matthews performed the “Chicken Dance” and was secretly taped by the in-booth cameras. They replayed it around the 4th inning and it might have been the funniest thing I ever saw. I need the video. Thank you.

    No recording here, either, just the great satisfaction that comes with recalling the look of ridiculous chicken-dance earnestness on Sarge’s face as he actually LEANED FORWARD from his seat to get a better view of his fellow chickens-in-arms.

    That Bon Jovi picture on Flatusyahu is very gay. The emo bangs, the highlighted hair, the creepy older gentleman to Jovi’s right, the fact that it looks like a bedroom shoot…I can go on and on(like your mom).

    i will be attending the 60,000 seat toilet that is shea stadium tonight to root on our phils. Ths is the first time i am making this daring move and potentially will be murdered by a 600 pound latino man with a tear drop tattoo’d under his right eye and the entire 1997 mets lineup tattoo’d on his back. I am frightened yes, but when King Joe Blanton pitches a complete game shutout, i can say i was there.
