The Laziest Post In Blogging: Contest Update!
Quick update on that book contest thingy from last week: I have decided to end it today at 3:59pm ET, instead of tomorrow at that time.
I got plenty of entries so far and word on the street is I’m rushing through this to get to an even better contest. So e-mail those in soon — I’m printing them out before I leave work today, I’ll go over the entries while watching MNF tonight, and announce the winners tomorrow. Again, good luck.
Now go waste 30 minutes of your day following these choice hyperlinks…
- Charlie Manuel’s agent, Pat Rooney, is flying to Vegas today to talk with Ruben Amaro about a contract extension. Here’s Pat, “Charlie wants to manage another three to five years and wants to be treated fairly. He’d like to retire a Phillie.” Sooooo… what, exactly, is there to talk about? GET IT DONE, AMARO!!! [Inquirer]
- I saw this incredible AC/DC backed Phillies highlight video on The Level last month, but I just uploaded it in High Definition on Vimeo. When you go there, make sure you click the full-screen button — it looks fantastic. Then go download it for posterity’s sake from Sean Donovan’s site. [Vimeo via Sean Donovan]
- Self-described “Poker Brat” (and meech-described “Whiny bitch who complains about luck”), Phil Hellmuth, had a Vegas run-in with none other than Pat Burrell and Geoff Jenkins. Or as Phil called them, “Pat Burrel and Jeff Jenkins.” Nothing spectacular happened beside The Bat calling Phil “an asshole” as a term of endearment, but Young MC was there! [Phil Hellmuth Blog via The Sexy Crimes]
- It’s time to give propers to one of the unheralded stars of the Phillies playoff run. Anchor for 6abc in Philly… Miss Erin O’Hearn! (Erin Andrews ain’t got shit on you, baby.)
- Brad Lidge was featured in the Rocky Mountain News last week from his off-season residence in Denver. It’s definitely worth the click, if not for the story itself, for the slideshow. But Lidge does tell an interesting tale of feeling like his “knee was about to give” when he was on the bottom of the World Series pile after Game 5. [Rocky Mountain News]
- The Shibe Times is reporting that Dugout Central is reporting that a source for the Veteran’s committee is reporting that the ex-Phillie who toted a 44-ounce bat, Dick Allen, will be inducted into this year’s HOF class. Congratulations, Dick. One person who won’t be happy? Number cruncher Bill James, who once wrote (last sentence), “[Dick] did more to keep his teams from winning than everybody else who ever played major league baseball. And if that’s a Hall of Famer, I’m a lug nut.” [The Shibe Times] UPDATE: Allen didn’t get in; Dugout Central loses credibility.
- And finally, friend of The Fightins and man whose fantasy football league I completely neglected, Dan Levy, interviewed Chuck Norris for his On The DL podcast this week. Go over there and check it out. Personally, I’d like to know how Chuck feels about stealing the whole “Facts” shtick from Cole Hamels. [On The DL]

So much for that post on Dugout Central about Dick Allen getting in the Hall of Fame. Not only was he not elected, he got the least number of votes of all 10 players up for election in the post-1942 class. Yikes.
