Here we go again…
The newest member of the Metropolitan shit talking brigade is none other than the player with the flukiest record known to man, Francisco Rodriguez.
These kids’ll never learn:
“Whatever they did last year, they already got paid. Whatever they did, I have all the respect in the world. They worked hard and they deserve it. This is a different year and different ballclubs now. I don’t want to make any controversy, but with me and Putz and the additions in the bullpen, I feel like now we are the team to beat.“
It’s bad enough that he stole Jimmy’s now-infamous line from 2 years ago, but doesn’t he know that this is how Carlos Beltran started camp for the Mets last year? How’d that turn out? My favorite part of these guys running their mouths this year is they have to begin their bold predictions by first complimenting the WFC Phillies.
I’m gonna go ahead and assume this is yet another meaningless prophecy that I’ll have to highlight next year when the newest Mets free agent-du-jour decides to take a shot at the defending NL East Champions.
Keep ‘em coming, Metros.

The Metropolitan’s love digging themselves into a deeper and deeper hole filled with no-talent ass clowns.
You would think they would want to get as much heat off of them as possible; considering they are called the Metropolitan’s…
Whoever thought that name up probably had the same throwing style as Lamar Latrell.
“…but with me and Putz and the additions in the bullpen, I feel like now we are the team to beat.”
Adding failure to your team /= team to beat; it = continued failure.

Here’s why the Mets and their fans are in a no-win situation. Say they do go on to win the division this year. So what? You go out and buy a huge piece every year (Beltran, Pedro, Santana, K-Rod) with money only 2 or 3 teams in all of baseball have, and shouldn’t you EVENTUALLY get a division title out of it? Bottom line is the Phils won a World Series with a team comprised entirely of home-grown talent and scrap heap guys. No matter what the Mets do with their expensive talent, it’ll pale in comparison to watching a team full of guys that came up together win a ring.

@ Pete:
Very well put. I like that reasoning.

the mets are about as cool as a colon

I actually think trash talk between rivals can be entertaining, but seriously, why can none of these guys come up with an original line? It’s starting to be right up there in the Baseball Cliche pantheon with “I just try to go out and give 110%” and “I’m just trying to help the team win some games”.

JJ Putz makes my legs quiver. I cant wait til Big Brown and Chutley unload bombs on his ass.

This is hilarious. Keep talking K-Rod, I could have as many saves as him if I got to play in the AL West. Can’t wait til Utley hits a game winner off him this year.

Prove it on the field, douchebags.

It really is hilarious how the Mets fans and players alike cant stop talking about JJ and K-Rod being their saviors this season while hating on the Raul signing and our lefty heavy lineup. Both of those guys are righties. What are they gonna do against the heart of our order, before even considering Dobbs and Stairs off the bench or the two switch hitters. Yeah, they are no slouch against either side of the plate, but it creates a completely different approach

I love my computer. I went to mets.com or at least attempted to, to read up more on this absurd K-rod comment and my internet browser froze. First website its ever done that on. I’ve trained my computer well.
