I guess the offseason officially begins today.
Shortly after announcing the most obvious option pickup ever when Ruben Amaro extended Cliff Lee’s stay with the Phillies at least one more year, he also told Brett Myers in so many words to hit the bricks. This according to Jim Salisbury of the Inquirer. Here’s some quotes:
“I officially won’t be a Phillie next year,’’ the 29-year-old pitcher told The Inquirer this afternoon.
“Actually I’m not as disappointed as I thought I’d be,’’ Myers said. “I don’t know if it’s because other things are in front of me, blurring my vision. I’m packing and getting ready to drive home (to Jacksonville, Fla.) tomorrow.”
“It just didn’t hit me as hard as I thought it would. I kind of felt it coming.’’
Myers said Amaro gave him no reason for the decision not to attempt to extend the relationship between the team and the pitcher.
“I was just like, ‘OK, thanks for putting up with my shit,’” Myers said. “He thanked me and wished me and my family well.”
“I’ll miss the guys on the team and the fans who have supported me. Hopefully I’ll be playing against the Phillies and when I do I want the roughest treatment the fans can give me – when I’m pitching. I’m an opposing player – you have to give it to me.’’
And we’ll miss you, too, Brett. Well, at least *I* will.
Myers will not return to Phillies | Phillies Zone
I don’t know how this wasn’t included in the initial report, but @ToddZolecki has the best quote of ‘em all:
That’s cause Brett plays real sports. He’s not trying to be the best at exercising.

November 6th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
Great exit line.
“thanks for putting up with my shit!”
brett, it was worth it for the walk against cc!
November 6th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
Seconded.
As much as a distraction has he could be, you couldn’t deny his competitiveness. He bent over backwards for the team in 2007 to move to the bullpen, and then took a demotion to the minors in 2008 to right himself, and subsequently had one of the most balls-out dominant second halves in recent memory.
I wish (and thought) that they brought him back for 2010. He can solidify the bullpen, and there is no question that he can be an effective starter.
Whatever happens, Brett will be missed in Philadelphia. And he’s earned himself at least one standing ovation when he returns as an opponent.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
Good bye, Brett, and don’t let your fist hit your spouse’s face on the way out.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
Brett Myers acknowledged my existence about a month or so ago. He was going into the bullpen with the rest of the guys as the game was about to start, and I yelled “Brett Myers, you are my hero”. He proceeded to point at me and give a thumbs up.
Godspeed Brett
November 6th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Brett’s one of those guys that, like Pat, will always be a Phillie….as long as he doesn’t sign with the Mets.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
I’m surprised it took 5 whole comments for a wife beater joke to happen.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
Something I cut a while back for Myers. See ya buddy.

November 6th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God I was hoping so bad that Brett would be back next year. He wasn’t the best player ever but I loved his antics so much. He was one of my favorite Phillies for so long. I’m going to miss him a lot.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
I’m sure the media will miss the guy just because he’s always been a great quote.
Kinda sucks that he’s leaving, I’ve always been a fan of the guy. But if the front office thinks they can upgrade, then I’m all for it.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
WOW i’m really surprised by this! i still thought he was effective as a starter… who’s the other guy in the rotation now? Lee, Hamels, Blanton, Happ and ? there’s no way pedro sticks around, he’ll be too much money and moyer is at that “wayyyyy too old” point in his career.
this is gonna be interesting.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
No love connection. You have MY word at least.
As for Brett I’ll kind of miss him. But not really. I’m just kind of neutral about it.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Good riddance. I won’t miss him one bit. He stands for everything that is wrong with baseball.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
His at bat against Sabathia and his 3 rbi’s against the Dodgers will never be forgotten.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
I’ll miss him. He pitched great in the latter half of 08. His walk against CC and his bat in Game 2 of the NLCS will live in our memories forever! Thank You Brett!

Alex, not bad at all.
Everybody else, Let’s talk about some of our favorite Brett Myers memories, maybe besides the obvious.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Lee, Halladay, Hamels, Happ, Blanton. PEACE.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
is there anybody left we can rely on when asses need kicking? i feel like he sort of served that purpose for us.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
“OK, thanks for putting up with my shit,” funny shit
November 6th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Maybe this means that they are going to pursue a big namer such as Lackey or even Halladay…
November 6th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Not surprised at all. He brought way too much negative press on him and the team throughout the years. Not that I think we had room from him in the starting rotation but it would have been nice if he was an option to pitch in relief or even close if Lidge sucks yet again.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
this makes me sad. my favorite myers moment was his reaction when he got the final out to clinch the east in 2007. throws his glove straight in the air and flexes as he stomps off the mound.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
We now need a new red-blooded American to replace Myers. Any ideas?
November 6th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Any ladies out there wanna chat?
/rebel’d
November 6th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
Love Myers. His quotes are legend.
Bud in hand, I salute you Brett.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
who’s gonna put Cole’s ass in line?
November 6th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
Seems like he’d be a real low risk, high reward type of player to keep around for another year. This move confuses me. Is there really THAT many other options out there?
November 6th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
he was a team guy, gotta respect that
November 6th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
he’ll be good out of somebody’s pen should he be used in that role
November 6th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
not too sad at all. the guy was a chronic underachiever on this team the last few years. giving great quotes don’t win you championships. vaya con dios brett.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
so long, Brett. We’re gonna need a new resident team badass, I think.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
I do say that Myers has been terribly inconsistent over the last couple years as a pitcher, so I’m not surprised at all.
Will I remember him fondly? Absolutely. Will I miss him dearly? Probably not.
He was a fan favorite, yes. But so was Pat. He left and everything worked out OK.
One of my personal favorites was a game last season when it went late into extras and Cholly sent Brett to the plate to PH, with the instruction to not swing. But he went up there waving the bat so wildly you thought he might try and hit it to Center City. That was great.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
Thanks for the memories!
November 6th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Nooooo…now the picture with him with holding machine gun is pointless
November 6th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Favorite Brett memory-the On Deck series when the ballpark first opened, I was standing in the Wall of Fame area (yeah, they allowed that the first weekend…) Anyway, it’s the National Anthem, and he’s rocking back and forth. I yelled out, “Yo Eyebrow’s, quit your dancing! This is the National Anthem.” Totally meant as a joke, but he stopped, and then yelled, while looking right at me, “I ain’t dancing!” I actually was a little scared for my life. That game, I interacted with a couple players, during the course of the game, it was awesome. (Amaury Telemaco responded to me and a friend asking him about his buddy’s poetry book that he dedicated to Amaury, and when we told him the concessions lady liked his ass. Dougie Glanville gave me a fist pump when I yelled, “University City!” That game was awesome.)
November 6th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
no goin to the AL to be a DH jokes?
November 6th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
This proves that the fight between him and Cole was real and the team is moving on to protect Hamels.
…or not
November 6th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
It’s funny that my most fond moments of Brett are as a hitter. His walk against CC and the 2 hit game against the Dodgers in the NLCS 2008.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
this better NOT be cole hamel’s fault
November 6th, 2009 at 3:38 pm

Lol “off field issues”
November 6th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
I love Brett. I hate everything he stand for, but he was an amazing competitor and teammate. He was a gritty player and pitcher. He contributed so much to Philadelphia, you have to be sad to see him leave.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
… and thanks to Tugger, we have this lovely item to remember Brett with….

AND I’LL TAAAAAAKE
WITH ME THE MEMORIES
(take with me the memories)
November 6th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
I am amazed that there is any love for this jagoff.
Granted he has a good memory with his ups in the game against CC, but the rest of his tenure here was average to really bad.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
After a Saturday night game three years ago I was at McFadden’s with my buddies and my wife. This awful hardcore band is playing and out of no where Brett jumps up on stage and sings through the worst cover of ‘Summer of ‘69′ I’ve ever heard. After finishing up with his vocal onslaught I bought the man a beer and my wife asked him to sign her ticket.
As Brett was signing it she goes, “You played really well tonight.”
Brett looks at her, smiles, turns to the bar, buys her a beer and says, “Thats nice of you to say but I didn’t play tonight.”
Godspeed Brett.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Damn! Someone else I can’t make fun of next season! Whenever Brett was doing badly, my friends and I would joke that his wife was packing her bags for the hotel that night. (I’m a girl so that’s ok right?!)
Oh well, so long Brett. Thanks for the memories.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
is there anyone who does NOT see brett myers playing for the astros next year? i mean come on. ed wade drafted him, his personal catcher chris coste (that’s not a gay joke, btw) already plays for them, and he’s a total redneck that will fit perfectly in houston. i wouldn’t mind keeping him around – for say $2M per – but i wouldn’t mind seeing him in the throwback rainbows. (ok, that one was a gay joke.)
November 6th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
Brett Myers was one of my favorites. I’m really sad to see him go.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
He’s as whiskey tango as they come, but will forever hold a special place in my heart.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Damn, this hits me harder than PAT leaving..
damn brett
i’ll miss you <3
November 6th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
i stand corrected – i’m not as up on my astros free agency news as i thought i was. coste is a free agent.
i still think myers signs with the astros.
giving myers the boot is much like giving pat the boot – i like him well enough, but i won’t miss him. (and just like i’ll always remember pat’s game 5.2 double, i’ll always remember myers’ walk against cc.)
November 6th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
I think this is the kind of move that will turn out poorly for the Phils, unless they pick up a top-of-the-line RHP. He is only 29 years old–which I still find shocking, every time I think about it, because it feels like he’s been around for so long–and his curveball is definitely a good one. I bet he bounces back from that surgery and has a great year in ‘10.
My favorite moments are definitely the celebration after clinching the NL East in ‘07 and his walk against CC.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
I loved Brett…there is no way around it. He didn’t do a lot to deserve my admiration but he just seemed so damn cool all the time.
Favorite Brett moments: HDYSR?, the CC game, and him slamming a beer on the parade float last year and chucking the can into the crowd.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
So does this mean NOW we can get Redneck Recking Crew shirts in the store?

November 6th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
I still miss Pat :\ He was a beaut.
November 6th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Myers was my favorite Phillie before Lidge, Stairs and Bruntlett came to town. I’ll miss Myers like I miss Randy Wolf now. It was a great run and I’m grateful for his 2008 season. I wish him the best of luck finding another team and being successful (unless he signs with NY)
November 6th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
I kinda liked the game last year when Cholly gave him the hook and Brett was visibly pissed. The argument carried over into the dugout and afterward everyone just blew it off.
I sort of liked it that Brett could get under Cholly’s skin once in a while. Every workplace needs a pain in the ass to keep things sane.
November 6th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Why the rush? I would have kept him around on a cheap 1 year incentive laden deal. Assuming Myers would have taken it, he is a serviceable SP or ‘pen depth. Who knows what to expect from Hamels, Lidge, and Moyer next year? I guess I don’t see the urgency. That said, off season just started and we’ll have to trust Amaro and see where we stand at the beginning of the season. So long Brett, thanks for the memories.
November 6th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Nick is a fan of shitty ball players.
/loved Jeltz, Booker, Schu, Wockenfuss, Cowley, Campusano as a kid.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
I hope Myers gets all CC fat and comes back to play the Phils. He expects the business, and we’ll give him the business.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
@66: DP DP DP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 6th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Fuck brett myers… dude was a white trash lowlife
November 6th, 2009 at 5:06 pm
holy shit i guess myers reads philly.com message boards i used to call him kenny powers on there all the time..
November 6th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Brett sure did give us tons of good and bad memories, but no love from me. I’m glad he’s leaving, peace out bro!

I’ll never forget the at bat against CC & I give him props for going to the minors, but other than that, I’ll just always think of one word with him: disappointment.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
I hope we get a good replacement. Imagine though what devilry he could do to the Mets clubhouse. If Eyre retires and Park leaves, the bullpen is seriously going to be boring.

About Chan Ho:

November 6th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Sam Carchidi is a retard; it’s in his vocabulary
November 6th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
Oh good. Chan Ho and his beard are going to stay. Did anyone else see Eyre’s clubhouse interview where he says he’ll have P on his cap or nothing at all. That made me laugh and cry.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Clock is ticking, Rube…you’re 0/1 with a championship-calibre squad…is there really a reason to do it this way rather than just waiting, even if you’re not wild about Ironpig Myers?
November 6th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I’m not here for a love connection.
Just to say Brett was a funny guy.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Nice run in Philly. Hopefully he’ll get picked up and have success.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
I seen Brett pitch some great games for the Phillies. But then again he did have some horrible starts… That at-bat Vs. C.C. will definitely be remembered forever by me.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
I’ll miss ya, Brett. Not so much that Fisher-Price glove of yours, though.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Like everyone else, I’ll always remember Brett for his epic at bats (19 pitches total) vs. CC. He’s always going to be a WFC. But ultimately, I think they’re making the right move.
Excited about the Ho Train probably staying in the station.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Not signing Myers could end up being the right move, but why cut ties this early?
November 6th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Philadelphia your fucking out!
November 6th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
Chan Ho, the Godfather
November 6th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
don’t forget about the kendrick prank, that was classic
November 6th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
I just like the guys that work their asses of and still can’t play worth a shit. Eric Bruntlett is hilarious, Matt Stairs is a drunk, and Brad Lidge… no words for his superiority. I always felt bad when I was at the games and Stairs or Bruntlett would come to bat and no one would cheer.
I do like Chase Utley, Shaners, Pedro Feliz and Cliff Lee too, if that counts for anything
November 6th, 2009 at 8:29 pm
I for one am entirely heartbroken..hurts worse than PB and I am still mourning PB. God help me.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Maybe Brett can donate and leave behind Mr Chin Beard. I think Phillies fans would kick in an extra $1 a seat to keep that around, right? I know I would.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
:[ Noooo. I’ll miss him. He was definitely a hero last year. Coming up from the depths of suckage to totally rule in the postseason…even becoming an iconic pinch hitter, lol. He shall be missed indeed. Best of luck to him…I’m sure he’ll get into more fun trouble wherever else he goes.

November 7th, 2009 at 12:49 am
Nah I just caught the beginning of that episode.
November 7th, 2009 at 6:29 am
From a sentimental perspective, I’m sad to see the guy go. He was a big part of the organization for the last decade.
From a baseball perspective, I really can’t blame the Phillies. I’m not sure how much productive baseball Brett has left in him, but I wish him well. What are the odds he lands with the Astros and Ed Wade next year?
November 7th, 2009 at 8:35 am
I think it would be fitting to send Brett off in the classy WSBGMs style of a song parody. Today I select Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks to put my twist on.
Goodbye Brett
The Phils thought to bring Brett back in,
They searched for reasons,
High and low.
Then they tipped their hats,
And said “Thank You Brett,
If we need your services, we’ll let you know.”
Well, the weeks went by and,
Fall turned to Winter,
And Winter faded into Spring.
And it turns out Brett was a missing person,
who nobody missed, that was the thing.
Brett had to leave.
Goodbye Brett!
We need a break.
Let him go to the Royals,
We’ll pack him a lunch.
And stuff your suitcase trunk, Brett.
Well, how is KC?
Good? Don’t you ever come back.
Goodbye Brett!
November 7th, 2009 at 9:30 am
That double header against the Brewers in 2008, the Sunday night game, to complete the sweep. Amazing.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:49 am
Here’s one that I think is the epitome of Brett Myers pitching moments:
I went to every game of the Reds series, keeping score in hopes of having a record of Griffey’s 600th HR. As many know, it didn’t happen – Grif hardly played (though he came really close against Hamels). Anyway, Brett pitched a game in that series. I’m keeping score, and the buzz is going around — Brett is working on a no-hitter. He took it into either the 6th or 7th inning (I’m thinking 7th). He’s got two down, and two strikes on the batter.
The crowd rises to their feet, realizing what’s going on and hoping Brett can get the K. A guy next to me, who I was talking to throughout the game, looks at me and goes, “This big cheer shit is no good. He’s gonna fuck it up. He can’t handle this. His head can’t handle this.”
Whaddaya know, next pitch is hit for a dying quail into center that blows both the no-no and the shutout, thanks to a BB/SB that preceded it. Brett ends up losing the game, 2-1 I believe.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:54 am
my inner white trash southerner was reeeaaalllyyyyy turned on by brett myers. now what the fuck is shania supposed to do? go trade for halladay, our team is now lacking awful facial hair.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:22 am
Brett Myers was an overhyped wife beater I couldn’t be happier right now.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:29 am
How’s Kim?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Alexander, that was excellent, man.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:36 am
i think Brett was a complete guess / crap-shoot every single time he stepped on the bump. i’ll only miss him a little. his curveball is (was) the epitome of himself: sometimes amazingly impressive and at other times barely sub-par. and that Kendrick prank was an all-timer. Amaro will figure this out for us…
November 7th, 2009 at 11:37 am
Good. Get rid of this wife-beating, beer bellied, Bert & Ernie eyebrow-having, overpaid hick!
Maybe the Phillies’ brass will go out and get someone else I can tee off of, ala Pedro.
Phillies pitching is a complete joke, aside from Lee, who you can’t even call your own.
See ya in another 28 years Philly. Until then, E-A-G-L-E-S!
Oh, and be kind to Santa this year. In a tough economy, he doesn’t need to be booed again.
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
WFC= We Fuckin’ Choked!

Can someone explain to me how/why the Santa Claus thing still lives?
It was 19-sixty_fucking_8
That’s more years ago than the Yankees have World Series rings. Seriously.
It happened in Franklin Field, the stadium before the stadium before the stadium the Eagles play in now.
It doesn’t piss me off as much as it makes me realize how absurdly dumb the rest of the universe is.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:03 pm
Matsui, what are you still doing here? The WS is over.
And I can’t wait until A.J. Burnett turns into the next Carl Pavano/Barry Zito and CC Sabathia declines because of weight issues.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
matsui, your favorite team won the world series, but not much can be said for your failing character flaws. you have to live with yourself for the rest of your life, and you’ll always be a big pussy.
just admit it, c’mon it’s a blog, no one knows you. tell us your how emotionally weak you are.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Simple. All it takes is for one bandwagon Yankee fan (in this case MATSUI) to go to Google, type in “philadelphia fans”, and look at the first couple entries in the auto-complete box.
I mean sure, the easy blame could go to MATSUI, who probably ran out and picked up his first Yankees hat and jersey as soon as they clinched the division this year. But the real culprit here is Google, for giving your average know-nothing-about-baseball internet troll a few ancient facts about us.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
You’re quite perceptive, TheOtherJim.
Well put.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
Brett Myers is not even in the same ballpark as Kenny Powers!
November 7th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
MATSUI, people like you and Jay-Z are the reason why I can’t wait to leave that hellhole NYC. You’re a disgrace and shall never be referred to again as far I’m concerned.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
If I don’t get either a Penn state win over ohio state or a birds win over the the dallas fuckboys to help ease my pain I’m going to have a rough weekend.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
MATSUI’s Googling skills are lacking. He totally should have thrown a batteries reference in there, too. It comes up sixth.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
@Lynniemac – I’m more forgiving about that one for 2 reasons:
1.) That was at a Phillies game, not an Eagles game (though I wouldn’t be surprised if the culprits were wearing Eagles jerseys and chanting “E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!” throughout the game)
2.) It didn’t happen in 19-sixty_fucking-8
November 7th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I think this puts it in proper perspective.
http://www.spike.com/blog/top-ten-teams-with/87671?spike=6501
Phillies fans aren’t even mentioned in the top 10. And, being a Phillies fan doesn’t automatically make you an Eagles fan…..or does it? At any rate any fan of any New York team can just blow me.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
At least we’re not European soccer fans………they freakin’ kill people for cryin’ out loud!
November 7th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
Heathcliff, the fact that the batteries are more recent and actually took place at a Phillies game is why I mentioned it. That said, I refuse to let that incident define a fanbase, either. A couple morons with batteries does not equal all Phillies fans.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Yeah, Google did kinda throw us under the bus on this one, but I can’t say I didn’t smile a little bit when I saw that “philadelphia fans worst” came up as the first entry.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Agreed, OtherJim. I did, too.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Feliz released
November 7th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
maybe not, I think some guy is full of shit. Then again, he will be released so who cares
November 7th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Stairs is out too…
November 7th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Zo hasn’t said anything about Feliz so I trust that nothing has happened. I do believe he will be gone though, unless Ruben decides he wants to use cash to get another big name starter instead of a third baseman. If that is his rationale then I will take Pete Happy back with no worries.

What the hell happened to Sammy Sosa?
November 7th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
I wonder what happened to the Other Jim? No, not the one who posts here, I’m talking about the OTHER JIM. I mean, for one person to be the Other Jim, there has to be Another Jim, right? That one. I wanna talk to THAT guy. The Other Jim, so to speak.
November 7th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Gonzo, you got 500 on the other post and 100 on this one. You CANNOT be stopped. I’m very envious.
November 7th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
Thanks Maria. And I almost blew it on this post. A couple times I got the “posting too fast” error. Sacred the bejeezus outta me. If only I worked as hard at finding a job. *sighs*
November 7th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
What the hell happened to Sammy Sosa?
Can I be uncouth here? I can? Good.
He’s been banging Robbie Alomar.
November 7th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Gonzo, I got those “posting too fast” messages. It made me very nervous.
November 7th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
Damn Sammy, what the fuck? Michael Jackson wannabe.
November 7th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Sammy’s arm candy looks like she has lopsided boobs.
November 7th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
To Brett Myers:
You sir, are no Kenny Powers.
You’re fuckin out
November 7th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Brett’s best year as a starter was 2006. He has no passion and will only get worse. The fact that he was making 12 million is a total joke. He would probably expect to come back for the same. The fact that some people on here think he would consider coming back for 6 million or less is a total joke.
November 7th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
Brandon Webb will be used as trade bait. The D-Backs have no chance in 2010 and will likely trade Webb to address some of there needs
November 7th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
Luis,
I’m sick and tired of reading about how you can’t wait to move out of NY. Well guess what. NY can’t fucking wait until you move. Go! Get the F outttttaaaaaa heeeeerrrrrreeeeeee. Stop bitching and just do it. Leave! NY isn’t meant for little girls like you….move to Philly. And believe me, nobody will miss you.
And for the rest of you, I don’t give a shit if it was 1968, 1972, 1979, 1988, 1999, 2003 or 2009. It happened. End of story.
Tell me this. A bunch of you retards are talking about how NY bought their World Series title. Howard is making $15m, Utley is making $11m, and today, I saw that you 2009 first place losers gave Lee $9m. Those three players alone will cost you $35m, not to mention the other 20+ players on the roster. Pettitte and Matsui combined cost the Yankees $18.5m last year, and they beat you in game 6. So explain your bullshit theory. It’s very entertaining listening to you all.
Did Rollins receive his crystal ball from Mayor Bloomberg yet? hahahahahahahahahaha
November 8th, 2009 at 12:56 am
MATSUI, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha………………….funny shit. That’s the shit I wanna hear. Keep me entertained bro. I am dying laughing right now as I type. I love to elicit responses just like this because it just cracks me up. Feel free to respond to some more of my bitching because I love a good joke. In a couple years, your wish and mine will come true. Don’t worry about that.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:06 am
ok whoever is posing as Yankee trolls needs to stop. I know it’s not real Yankee fans, it’s someone on here.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:12 am
MATSUI,
Really? Name calling? Name calling on a fucking blog. At least I put my name on whatever it is I say and post a picture next to it. Can you say the same? No, you can’t. So with that being said, I will not respond to you ever again. Have fun trolling.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:14 am
heard that Howard is being sent to the Arizona Fall League to work on his mechanics and swing. Maybe he can hit the ball down there.
heard Cole is doing a snickers commercial. maybe he’ll choke again for the 2nd time in the last week and a half.
WFC = we fuckin choked.
where was Utley with his stupid little “let me swear in front of this blue collar city to get them pumped up” speech this year? F him.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:14 am
Seacrest Out!
November 8th, 2009 at 1:19 am
Luis,
What name did I call you?
wow, when did you add your picture? Tonight? Do everyone on here a favor and take that shit down. It looks like
a) you fell face first into a pile of shit
or
b) you have a beard.
either way, you lose. You would look socially acceptable if it were 30 years ago, you got a haricut, a shave and lost about 20 lbs.
You suck at everything.
Matsui-san.
November 8th, 2009 at 8:30 am
MATSUI,
I know that I had wrote that I won’t respond to what you say, but read your own post. You called me a “little girl,” but that’s okay, I don’t care. Lastly, I will not say shit about you because I don’t have to do that. With that being said, now I will not respond to you anymore.
November 8th, 2009 at 9:59 am
WOW! I cant believe Yankee fans are still coming here and attacking peoples comments four days after the Series. This is a PHILLIES site in case you did’nt notice. Everything here are just opinions displayed by once again.. PHILLIES fans. Go enjoy and bask in the glory of your championship and stop worrying about what we say. It’s like you are there waiting for someone to comment then jumping on them. We lost..we know, but you did’nt kill us like everyone said they were going to do. It was the best of seven and you won the two extra games needed…hats off. But know this and keep it in mind,no matter what you think or say..the Phillies did not play to their full potential and we still gave you a run for your 200 mil. money (ie: six games). Matsui..as far as the salary comment is concerned…the Yankees are and have been.. bought out teams. If thats how ol Georgy wants it and he has the money..I guess go for it, but trying to make a comparison where salaries are concerned is a complete joke. First off you are like almost 100 mil over us in total payroll for starters and you have’nt won the series before now since 2000. Is’nt that why you pay the big guys big money? The Yankee lineup right down to the eighth spot is 13 mil or higher right up to A-ROIDS 33 mil. It’s like Jerry Jones with the Cowboys..they hurt the game by taking on big salaries and causing the contract prices to rise around the league…not to mention building obnoxious overpriced stadiums (what are they going to do next?..ask NASA to build one on the moon cause there isnt enough space here?) The Yankees are the reason for the luxery tax in baseball. Our pitching has struggled yes, but where has yours been?…You have’nt won anything with your pitching since 2000 so whats your point? It all comes down to who’s hot and who’s cold and we were more cold than you were hot so get a grip. So Matsui..you teed off on Pedro..where were you for Lee since you brought up ONE pitcher? again pointless. You take one incident and blow it into this huge thing on how and why you won. Thats like me saying I wish the Series was only one game (thats why it’s called a series because its more than one) because we smoked your asses in game one and would have won the championship..thats why its the best of seven,to give the teams seven chances to win it..we came up a little short..that’s why people hate the Yankees..the cocky arrogance. Were you part of all those 26 championships they won? Were you there when they sucked and lost? How did we choke?…Were we up 3-0 in the series and you guys came back to beat us? Again we did’nt play Philly baseball and still took it to six. The Yankees finally won with their 200 mil. payroll..great!.. go and enjoy it instead of coming here. After all is’nt that why Georgy shelled out all that money. At least he finally got his moneys worth.
November 8th, 2009 at 11:48 am
If Yankee fans cannot get over the snowball incident, than by all means we have a right to be pissed at MR. HGH pitching and A-Roid over at third base. They Cheated put a god damn asterisk next to the 27th championship. Oh A-Roid did it in Texas but not with the Yankees, well guess what, HE STILL FUCKING CHEATED!! The day fans get over the fact that we hit Santa with some snow balls is the day that I will say that A-Roid and Mr. HGH have not tainted the game of baseball. Enjoy your title but leave the Phillies alone. As fans that have 27 championships, the individuals that troll on this site lack any class at all. Go outside it’s a really nice day!
November 8th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
146: “Sammy’s arm candy looks like she has lopsided boobs.”
ha ha I hate when that happens.
re: Yankme troll once again regurgitating the Santa booing. Who wouldn’t boo Santa? He’s a crusty old fat fook with no fashion sense who breaks little childrens’ hearts as soon as they’re old enough to be slammed with the reality that he’s not real. As far as I’m concerned, he should be booed at every availabe opportunity.
Since the thread started with the Brett news, I’m in the glad to see him go camp. This organization doesn’t need another drama magnet.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
I would boo Santa’s ass too if I had a chance
November 8th, 2009 at 1:58 pm
Matsui, you and your fellow NYers keep insisting that we are a second-rate and otherwise extremely forgettable city. Since this is the case, there is no need for you to be paying any attention to us and our second-rate blog. Thank you. Go enjoy your trophy.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
F’ the Yanks.
‘Nuff said
November 8th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
Does it make you feel like a man to attack what somebody looks like ?!
Is this high school?!
November 8th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
Trolls still attacking this site? WOW.
I agree with BigMiles.
If we’re so second-rate leave us alone and go shove your first-rate city up your asses.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
To all of NY,
Just because you’re from New York doesn’t mean you’re better than everyone else. I sure as hell don’t think I’m better than anyone else. This is why I hate NY, because of trolls that talk shit and rub it in other people’s face. Yankee fans, who are fake by the way, don’t know shit about baseball and only wear the cap because it’s “cool.” Met fans, who disappear when their team sucks, always talk shit and can’t back it up. I hate Mets and Yankees fans mainly because they think just because they’re from New York, they’re better than you. It’s that arrogance that pisses me off. NY is the most overrated city in the world. I advise anyone reading this post to not move to NY. There’s a reason why most people in NY eventually move away from NY. When I move, I sure as hell won’t miss NY or any of the people, with the exception of my mom and brother, who live there. Seacrest out!
November 8th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Since everybody else is doing it, I decided to use a real pic of myself as my avatar. That’s me enjoying a delicious ham n cheese sammich.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
That didn’t work.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
I lived in NY for three weeks. IT was sheer hell on earth.
November 8th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Can we get to Phillies post season talk already? Option on Pedro Feliz has been declined
November 8th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Let’s get Beltre
November 8th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
I kinda torn about not bring Happy Pete back. A part of me feels like his D makes up for his offensive shortcomings. Another part of me feels like this team needs a better on-base % from 3rd – and a guy that doesn’t infuriate you with his first pitch swings. This is kinda like when a chick you were indifferent about but kept around for the poon on the reg breaks up with you, but then after that you realize you kinda liked her.
November 8th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
Personally I don’t understand spending more money for someone other than Feliz at third. He can be an offensive liability, but its not like that is really what he is there for. Aside from that, a better player at third wouldn’t have been enough for us to beat the Yanks. Another big time starter might have been. So why not just keep Feliz and use some of the freed up money to get a #2 starter? Just a thought…
November 8th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
you can never get enough pitching
November 8th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
MLBTradeRumors is speculating the Phils will be making a run at Halladay this offseason.
November 8th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
i heard the phils might sign mark derosa or chone figgins at third base
November 8th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
DeRosa would be a good option, but Figgins might be a bit too pricey
November 8th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
Just watching Cold Case and two characters were talking about when something happened – the one character said he was “watching the Phillies game – the one that ended with the unassisted triple play”. The other guy said something like “yeah, Bruntlett, I saw that”. Earlier in the show someone else mentioned Iverson and Barkley as people who were famous enough that the police would give them a free pass.
Although the Bruntlett triple play was really cool to watch and have incorporated into a TV show just a few months later, it is too bad they couldn’t name check one of the other guys on the team.
November 8th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Halladay doesn’t make any sense unless you can do a sign and trade. There is no way we can put ourselves in a position to lose Clifton and Halladay at once. As much as having Roy would be nice, the Jays aren’t going to lower the price tag significantly enough to make it worth it to us, IMO.
November 9th, 2009 at 12:02 am
I just want to thank the Eagles for making it that much of a tougher week. UGH!!!!!
November 9th, 2009 at 12:49 am
maybe scott rolen will come back to play three bag
November 9th, 2009 at 1:00 am
mlb trade rumors has us signing valverde and derosa…. I feel like we need beltre at 3rd and derosa on our bench to make up for our bench’s shortcomings… but having valverde would be nice.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:51 am
I will miss him because I was hoping for more quotes from the ChinBeard.
November 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
HE never came close to the pitcher he was hyped to be since day one,,but he was kinda scrappy, but i would love to beat the fuck outa him in a drunken stuper,,and i would like to make him watch wile i tounged his wife’s tight little ass!! cot dam
