Scott Franzke’s appearance on DIY’s “Kitchen Impossible”
Posted by meech.one at 1:41 pm ET 23 Comments

Back in 2009, Phillies radio play-by-play guy Scott Franzke, his wife Lori, and their two dogs, Darla and Ladybird, starred in an episode of the little-known DIY Network home remodeling show called “Kitchen Impossible”. After (I’m assuming) the Franzkes wrote the network for help on their outdated kitchen, some TV show host/contractor guy named Marc Bartolomeo showed up at their house with his team of fixer-uppers and turned the Franzke’s barely functional kitchen (where Hulk Hogan figurines double as decorations) into a modern, livable kitchen with fancy upgrades that they tend to do on these sort-of shows. I don’t mean to spoil it for you if you’ve never seen, but it turns out this kitchen isn’t so impossible to fix after all. Damn misleading show titles!

Depending on your level of interest after reading that description, I’ve embedded the entire episode post-jump. If you choose to watch it, that’s on you.

His puny arms stand in stark contract to his fat, thick hog.

I actually was in a show called Asshole Impossible. A little bleaching and an ass hair trimming and the before and after shots are jaw dropping.

It hurts to listen to Franzke and know his confined to radio because he is way too good at his job. Sometimes I kind of hope espn picks him up for him to get a good tv job somewhere so people realize how good he is!

  9. njpaNick says:

Fun fact: the production company for this show is based in Bala Cynwyd, a stone’s throw from the offices of CBS Radio, the broadcast partner of the Phillies Radio Network. CONSPIRACIES AND WHATNOT.

  10. Nikita says:

For everyone who passed on watching the video, you missed the part where the dogs get their own ergonomic dining station.

As nice as the finished product is, there’s little correspondence to real life, in which the homeowner ends up having to stalk the contractor in order to get the job finished, and is happy to pay him the 30-35% more than the original estimate called for.

I always wonder how much actual cooking will be done in these showplaces, too. More likely a beautiful setting for take out Chinese and Taco Bell.

I love Franske’s voice, but i wonder if I will enjoy seeing Elvis Costello for the pre-game if he is ever allowed to take over.

    1. How the hell do you find this stuff?

    2. I have some notes for DIY on how they could have spiced this episode up. Firstly, they should have included Wheels when they showed the scene with the guy soaking the wood in the tub. I’m thinking you have Wheels next to the guy washing his wig in the tub. Second, have T-Mac raiding the new fridge at the end with a bra on.
