Trusty reader Mark McClure sent this along the other day under the subject line, “The country has little faith in The Fightins…”
It’s a highly-scientific survey conducted by those free-thinkers over at ESPN. The states colored red are the ones who think the Rays will win, the blue – Phillies (shouldn’t it technically be the opposite?):
With the exceptions of PA, NJ, and some other really tiny state, the entire country thinks the Rays will win. And you know as well as I do, most of the country is stupid.
Advantage: Phillies.

Honestly, I wouldnt want it any other way. I leave you with this quote from the 2nd greatest corner man in any boxing movie, Tony Burton.
“You’re gonna have to go through hell, worse than any nightmare you’ve ever dreamed. But when it’s over, I know you’ll be the one standing. You know what you have to do. Do it.”

By coincidence there was another poll somewhere in the college football section asking who would win the big Penn State-Ohio State game this weekend. States that voted for Penn State were colored red, and states voting for Ohio State were colored blue.

I think it’s better to be the under dog it will be fun to watch the map turn blue when the Phillies lead the series & send the little rays home…

You know what cracks me up. At that sportsnation poll page on espn, everyone has the rays winning but if you look at the other polls their, people voted the phils have the better bullpen and lineup.
It blows my mind how much sports media do not like the phillies at all.

“Hi, I’m Mark McClure. You may remember me from such tips as, ‘That ESPN SportsNation Poll’ and ‘Hey, Some Drunk Chick Just Passed Out In Front Of A Limo!’”
(Someday, with God’s help, I will kick this Simpsons-quoting habit.)

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/fantasy/shandler/2008-10-21-series-predictions_N.htm A truly terrible article. I really wish people would stop smoking weed while writing articles about baseball playoffs the past few weeks. Another “Rays fan” openly stating ridiculous points.

I really wish people would stop smoking weed while writing articles about baseball playoffs the past few weeks.
That would kill pretty much everything on The Fightins.

It’s not unanimous in the rest of the country. I’m sure its 60-40 or 55-45 in most states, besides Florida.

Touche, Chamo.

Which explains why several elderly voters have picked Pat Buchanan to win the World Series.

You know me better than that, Chamo. The most I do is comment when I’m drunk, never post. And I am yet (emphasis on the yet) to post when I’m trippin’.
