There are a few obscurities that happened this week in Phillies baseball that I’ve neglected to mention here on The Fightins simply because my Madden 10 addiction is getting out of hand, but one that I just had to go back and revisit was the emergence of Ali Modami, world’s largest batboy.
For the August 11-13th series at Wrigley, the Cubs were unable to provide a batboy for the visiting team, so the Fightins usual BP pitcher, #80 Ali Modami, had to step in and fill the void. As you can clearly see, Ali — who I’m guessing is around 5′10″, 250 lbs. – is a bit bigger than your average batboy.
I imagine the whole team got a kick out of the gigantic bat-fetcher, but the only person who I could find a comment from was manager Charlie Manuel.

Now I’m not superstitious in the least, but I’m thinking since the Phillies got their first road sweep of the Cubs in 25+ years, my man Ali deserves another shot at this gig.
