I'm not even gonna say that david eckstein is a bad player, but why the fuck do people always bring his name up when they talk about "tough, hard-working players that hustle." really? you can't name any "scrappy" player better than david eckstein? how about chase utley? i guess what people really mean is a "scrappy player with shitty numbers"

David Eckstein Career Stats
AVG .283
OPS .709
HR 33

Those are terrible numbers. The myth that Eckstein was a great player must die.

Right Shaggy, Eckstein is no good. He just happened to play the toughest defensive position and hit .293 in 152 games in 2002 on a team that coincidentally won the World Series. By fluke he hit .292 in 2006 and was the World Series MVP on a team that through pure luck took out the Tigers in 5 games. It's only through the craziest luck and complete lack of skill that he's an all-star career .293 hitter with a .979 fielding percentage.

This is the worst mental slacking I've ever seen in a major league game. The Phils should be ashamed.

Scutaro's nickname during his Oakland days was, I shit you not, The Magical Man-Elf. Mostly for his knack of clutch hitting, which was also just about the only time he did any hitting out there. Having a hell of a year for the Jays, though; would love to see him make the All-Star Game on general principles.

@Jese

this is from a Phils fan. 30 other people posted comments before you, all saying what you just came cheerleading in here to say. Not very heads-up commenting by Jese.

Great job on the animated gif, guys! Now I can relive this play over and over and over. The Jays commentators were also stunned by the play - they said it was like nothing they had ever seen before. I didn't even know it was possible. Maybe the Phils will try it against the Jays next week in Toronto!

this is from a Jays fan. Scutaro has been doing aggressive base running all year, but to catch the world champs asleep like that, sorry Phiilies fans, but that is down right embarrassing to see them give up a stolen base like that. Heads up baseball by Scutaro.
