Political humorist Keith Olbermann (that’s what he is, right? I seriously have no idea.) of MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann updated his MLBlog at quarter past one in the morning last night to give his thoughts on Mark McGwire being brought on as a hitting coach for the Cardinals (ZZZzzzzz…) and his prediction for the upcoming World Series. His well thought out, insightful two paragraphs discussing his reasoning consisted of jokingly complaining that he won’t get free tickets to the Phillies games, letting his readers know when he’s gonna be snarky by cleverly adding a (snark) parenthesis, suspecting the Yanks will win is six (possibly five!), and finally saying the only chance the Phillies have of winning is if DENNIS Werth has himself a huge series.
Here’s the screencap:
Didn’t this guy used to host SportsCenter for chrissakes? Dennis, if you are aware, is Jayson’s stepfather WHO HASN’T PLAYED IN THE MAJORS SINCE THE EARLY 70′S! If you’ve watched a half of a Phillies game this year, Keith, or checked the rosters of the All-Star Game, you would be aware that Dennis Werth is in his late 50’s and his stepson, JAYSON, is the 35+ home run hitting right fielder for the WFC Philadelphia squad.
Stick to politics, dawg.

Stick to politics? This hack isn’t any good at that either. Did he actually say that the Phillies made it to the WFC for the first time ever? What the hell is wrong with this guy? Has he turned on a TV since he left sportcenter? Someone should force him to sit and watch his own show as punishment.

That Aaron Rodriguez is a helluva player. Watch out for him.

I think the key to this series is all in how Joe Torre manages under National League rules.

Weak sauce Olbermann. Terrance Howard does not play 1st base for the Phil’s either. Douche
October 27th, 2009 at 8:40 am
and Dane Cook is not funny either

He should be waterboarded for this tomfoolery.

Pedro to start game 2. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/phillies/Martinez_to_start_Game_2.html

Just add him to the list of the people who think the Yankees invented the bat and ball.
I hope Dennis Werth hits for the cycle in game 1.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:24 am
You have to admit though, if Dennis Werth did show up and have a great series, the surprise and bewilderment would give the Phils a definite edge
October 27th, 2009 at 9:29 am
I think the key to this series is the superior play of Joey Rollins over David Jeter.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:31 am
To hear some of these Yankees jock sniffers talk, you’d think the Phils were going up against Mikey Mantle and Gabe Ruth. Your 16 world championships don’t mean anything THIS year.
(Thanks Keith, I could have fun with this all day)

Olbermann is the worst. Politics, jokes, sports….he is terrible at all of them.

Chance Utley, MVP.

Jason Giambi will hit a WS clinching walkoff for the Yankees off of Phillies troubled closer, Jose Mesa.
Keith Olbermann told me this in a dream.

It’s like an Onion article…

Um I may be way off base here but the way it reads makes it sound like the Phillies have no chance unless Dennis Werth himself were to help the club out. I think it was an intended joke. A bad one but a joke none-the-less.

Meh, he goofed. Oh well. I still enjoy reading that blog every now and then. The stuff he wrote on Mathewson earlier in the season was great.
I love Jimmy’s confidence on Leno, but I don’t really want him to go out and piss off the Yankees. Better to just let them sit in a lull and realize after 5 games that they’ve lost the series.
October 27th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
in his defense, i always thought werth looked like a dennis
October 27th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
@ Capt Murdock the only way I’ll buy the “intended joke” is if Dennis Werth’s stepfather was also a Yankee. Wikipedia has failed me on this.
Also, I met Dennis (and Mrs) Werth last WS, and am still trying to figure out how he got that massive rock since he played for the Yankees from 79-80 and in KS in 82.

someone from msnbc made an oopsies? shocking shit
October 28th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Just saw him interviewed on CSN. He has credentials for the series. So unfair.
