Jimmy Rollins Is Worthy Of His Own Well-Produced Highlight Reel

Here’s a little treat for the kiddies. The Fightins dot com reader Alexander F. Newton (and don’t forget the f around me) has come up with another highlight reel BANGA! for all to enjoy. If you recall, Alex was the creator of the incredible ‘Art of the Twin Killing’ video from a couple months ago, and now he has returned with an even fancier, Jimmy-centric video. You get a whole new appreciation for Jimmy (or anyone for that matter) when you display their highlights on old grainy footage with an orchestral version of the ‘Rocky’ theme playing in the background.
Enjoy. And don’t forget to thank Alex for arranging such a choice video.

OH MY! THAT’S some VINTAGE glove WORK!!! He’ll STEAL a bag and KNOCK IT OUT of the park.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
I hope that when Jimmy retires, he becomes a comedy actor, like Terry Crews.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Cool video, but I wish it had some of his defensive highlights as they have been amazing. Nice one on the Jimmy shirt as well.
Two of my favorite things about Jimmy, his shades and his glove kiss, finger to the sky motion.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
That video is false advertising. It implies that Jimmy Rollins can lay down a successful bunt.
October 5th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Thank You, Alex, for arranging such a choice video.
October 5th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
I love Jimmy Rollins and always will, but it did get annoying this season when everyone kept saying that the player that “gets the offense going” is a lead off hitter with a .296 OBP
October 5th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Thanks for posting this meech. It was a blast to cut. My friends like to say that the F stands for ‘Freakin.’
Jimmy may have slumped a bit this year, but he’s still the man. Hoping he becomes the offensive catalyst in the postseason that we all know he can be.

dUb-iLL is the only one that listens.

Thanks Alexander. super cool. love the john facenda voice clip / add-in.
October 5th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Good shit, well done.
October 5th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Great vid. Anytime you can involve John Facenda sound-byte, it’s a guaranteed winner.
October 5th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
Good video but I HAVE to point out that a good majority of that video is footage from the Phillies World Series DVD last year, the one narrarated by Terrance Howard. Not hating on anyone cuz I’d have no idea how to make this, but I know that whole DVD by heart and there was a WHOLE LOT from it.
(Notice how NONE of the highlights are from this year, due to the fact that you never see him wearing an “HK” patch.)
October 5th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
Yeah Mark, you’re right. But unless one works for the MLB, it’s hard to come by any other footage!
October 5th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
I agree, I’ll still give you props on this. Trust me, if I hadn’t watched that Phils DVD easily 400 times (it was on loop at the sneaker store I worked at the past year) I’d say it was a sick Rollins compilation.
October 5th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
not gonna lie i just watched that terrence howard dvd last night. I’m now officially ready for wednesday once I watch “The Perfect Season” tonight.
October 5th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
I agree with Ozzie. The voice of Facenda makes this video a 10.
October 5th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Major question here – when do you start growing a playoff beard? Is it no shaving from the regular season on or from the first game of the playoffs on?
October 5th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
I meant from THE END of the regular season on
October 5th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
Thanks Alex. Not only the voice of Facenda but the Rocky music is the icing on the cake.
October 5th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Start growing it immediately. and take photos of the progress.

I really hate the iPhone for not allowing me to view this video right now.
Son of a bitch apple. Give me flash capability!!

choice!

Sometimes numbers don’t hold water. J-Roll’s numbers are pedestrian at best, especially for a leadoff hitter, but it’s blatantly obvious that the Phillies are a completely different team when he is on base, swiping bags, and scoring runs. He truly is the offensive catalyst. And I’ll take him defensively over any shortstop in all of baseball.
God I cannot wait until Wednesday afternoon. I might be in the minority that enjoys the afternoon slot. But that’s because I’ve been there the last two years, and Wednesday will make it 3…..
October 5th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
ozzie i used to enjoy afternoon baseball back in grade school. even though the phils were never in the playoffs back then except for the 93 run.. hopping off the bus to see baltimore play cleveland, or some other arbitrary day game was my favorite time of year. maybe thats what makes the phils recent playoff appearances so rewarding.. all the years we were forced to watch other teams mob eachother like wild animals.
now that we’re all working people its aggrivating to leave work or even worse, miss most of the game. i have the luxury of leaving work even though its extremely inconvenient.
anyone else going thursday
October 5th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
I could go Thursday if you give me your ticket.
October 5th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
in regards to my previous post about needing more to do at work, sneaking in updates on the beginning of the game might be the project i should be working on at my desk…
October 5th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
maria, it’ll cost you
October 5th, 2009 at 10:43 pm

October 5th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
Does anyone have a request for a future mashup? Serious or joke suggestions are welcome.
October 5th, 2009 at 11:39 pm
Alexander, I think you could make a great mashup gathering Sarge clips from this site. To the tune of Pink Cadillac, perhaps?
October 5th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
I second the idea of a Sarge mashup. That would be epic.
I also second the idea of a love blo…I MEAN, live blog.
October 6th, 2009 at 12:07 am
lynnie, haha you said “love blo”
October 6th, 2009 at 12:28 am
I was hoping someone would catch that.
October 6th, 2009 at 12:31 am
I’d run into a burning building to catch your love blo.
October 6th, 2009 at 12:55 am
LMAO Thanks, Gonzo.
October 6th, 2009 at 1:02 am
Ozzie, prior to the All Star break, when Rollins was in his serious, serious funk, the Phils offense scored 5.3 runs per game. After the All Star break, when he picked things back up, the Phils offense scored 4.7 runs per game. Of course it’s great when he’s on base and can get some stolen bases, but the problem is, even if you just take his recent production, he’s only getting on base 30.6% of the time.
Like I said, I love Jimmy, and his defense is invaluable. But I’m sorry – if T-Mac and some other boneheads hadn’t kept saying it ad nasueum on the broadcasts, there is no way anyone would seriously suggest that the weakest offensive producer on the team short of maybe Pedro Feliz is the “offensive catalyst.”
October 6th, 2009 at 1:11 am
Please start making videos for the phillies, i can’t stand how bad the commercials for the exciting series with the astros coming to town are…
October 6th, 2009 at 7:34 am
Dude, Pedro Feliz the weakest producer? That guy has driven in so many runs this season. Check those facts.
October 6th, 2009 at 8:18 am
Just going to say the same thing everyone else has already said. This is an awesome video! Kudos!
October 6th, 2009 at 9:58 am
I’m not going to get in to another RBI discussion but sufficient to say Pedro has the lowest OPS on the team and I can get into a lot of other metrics if you want. The reason he has more RBI is because the 4 best hitters on the team immediately precede him, in most cases.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:59 am

October 6th, 2009 at 10:15 am
Pedro smiles the most per capita of all Phillies players, maybe Rollins at a close second. Or maybe they’re tied.
