Last night’s Game 3 sure wasn’t pretty, but if you’re a Phillies fan — it was the most beautifullest game in the world.
Around 6:30, I got a call from my buddy. “Yo man, I hope you don’t have any plans for tonight.” I told him I was just about to head to my local watering hole to watch the Phils. “Well, would you rather go to the game? You just gotta pick me up,” he said.
“I’m already in my car, maing.”
Little did I know, the ticket would not only be free, but it was right the fuck behind home plate:

Actually, if you wanna get technical, our seats were in Row 1 of Section 224. Hall of Fame Club, directly behind home plate. But my friend’s brother-in-law wanted to swap seats with us in the 3rd inning, and we were happy to oblige.
It was just an unbelievable night filled with sloppy baseball, HORRIBLE umpiring (again), and plenty of runs being scored without the aid of a hit — but by the end of the game, a 20-foot dribbler by Carlos Ruiz did the most damage and proved to be the game-winner.
Needless to say, Phillies fans exited the stadium around 2 o’clock in the morning about as happy as I’ve ever seen them.
I didn’t even get up this morning until about 12:45, when I could no longer ignore my phone ringing off the hook from dudes in my fantasy football league who decide to set their lineup every week at 10 minutes to 1:00 and get locked out. Otherwise, I think I’d still be sleeping.
When I open my mouth, an annoying scratchy sound comes out that doesn’t even remotely resemble a voice. I’m on my 11th cup of coffee this morning. I still can’t think striaght (as you can probably tell from this jumbled post) but somehow, I can’t fucking wait to do it again tonight.
The Phillies are now just two victories away from their first World Series title since 1980.
We can’t get complacent now.
I’ll leave you with two videos I shot last night from my seat. The first is the fantastic round of applause Jamie Moyer received when Cholly pulled him from the game, the second is the entire Chooch at-bat from the bottom of the ninth. Enjoy:

Nice to watch that at bat from the fan’s perspective. Thanks for putting it up there for those of us unable to be at a game. What an awesome moment. I was so useless at work this morning. Can’t wait for the game tonight!

Love the video. The game was amazing. I was there too. I was so glad they didn’t cancel it because it was my birthday and wanted the game to happen on my birthday! Probably also one of the best moments/nights of my life.
