I think I figured out what’s wrong with Brett Myers…

Now I never claimed to be a pitching coach, but I’m pretty sure I’ve figured out a mechanical flaw in Brett Myers’ motion. Using this picture from Brett’s September 24th start vs. the Braves as evidence, I’ve concluded that he simply needs to look at homeplate and/or the batter and his chances of throwing an effective pitch would increase dramatically.
Look at this — the ball isn’t even out of his hand yet, he’s gazing into the Phillies dugout, and that ridiculous look on his face bears a striking resemblance to a chin-bearded Fire Marshall Bill.
Alright Brett, so next start, ummmm… don’t do that. Problem Solved.

Hideki Okejima of The Boston Red Sox looks straight down at the ground while releasing the ball, but then again he’s Japanese. Brett Myers had better tighten that sh!t up if the Phils want to de-throne those Red Sox.
