Shame on me for not mentioning anything about it yesterday, but on July 5th, the day after America’s birthday, Sarge Matthews (59) and Tom McCarthy (41) both celebrated theirs. It was quite the day of hijinks in the myphl17 broadcast booth, including this happy birthday popcorn bath courtesy of the Phillie Phanatic.
I’m sure there will be documentation of the rest of foolishness later today, but for now, enjoy this:

It would have been better if McCarthy could curtail his signature, “that’s tremendous” call on the tomfoolery when it happens. It’s sounds like something Joe Buck would say in that moment.

As Sarge once said to McCarthy, “you think everything’s funny.” Shame on McCarthy for throwing popcorn in a grown man’s face. Sarge is a bigger man for not saying anything nasty.

Two things:
1) Does T-Mac realize at some point Sarge is going to pop him one? Keep poking the sleeping bear pal. Sarge is a gentle giant, but if you keep taunitng him, you’re getting five wrapped up…..as well.
2) Wheels took that money shot to the face as well as any pornstar I’ve ever seen. Kudos to Muffin.
