You all remember former Phillies 3rd base coach Steve Smith, right?
Hired at the start of the 2007 season, Steve served on the squad for two years (including the WFC 2008 season) before being fired and replaced by Art Howe, who immediately left and was replaced by Sam Perlozzi. Well anyway, Steve and his daughter Allie will be contestants on the 16th season of CBS’s hit reality show thingee, The Amazing Race, and I thought that sorta information might interest you.
And considering Allie is a semi-attractive 23-year old who is starring in a CBS reality show, I fully expect her to be engaged to a Phillies player within the calendar year.
On aside, can you believe The Amazing Race has been on TV for 16 seasons? It seems like just yesterday I was avoiding the premiere of the first season, now here we are in 2010 and I still have zero interest in watching it. Time flies, huh?

For their sake, I hope the final leg of the race doesn’t require him to wave his daughter in from second base.
He sure was a horrible 3rd base coach, but did alright on the offspring part.
Is she a stroke victim?
@Dash…well played. Smith was terrible at sending runners.
worst of luck to you, steve “stop sign” smith!
“The Amazing Race?”
Is that the show about white people?
I thought Howe was hired, then left to be a bench coach for one of his buddies somewhere, and then we hired Jimmy Williams to replace him back in 2007 or 2008.
yeah watrick is right, i think steve left along with jimmy after 2008 and they were replaced by bench coach pete mckannon (sp) and third base coach perlozzo, who was also brought in to improve howards defense for ’09
Cool. Yeah, Perlozzo helped, but I remember hearing that one of the reasons why Howard got better, too, was being he was “Now more willing to strengthen that part of his game”, which I took as code for being lazy before that.
Is it odd that the highlight of his career is when Geoff Jenkins ran threw his stop sign?
which is probably why he always played first. His coaches gave into: yeah big hitter, meh fielder.. but im happy if he’s hitting bombs. I wish i knew a coach like Perlozzo. knocking a ball down in the hole to save a run is just as productive as an rbi (haha phylan) ARRR-BEEE-EEEYEEE!
My lady watches this show. It’s okay. They had two Globetrotters on last season…they were cool to root for. Now I’ll be able to tune in with someone to root against.
The Mets traded for Sarge Jr
If I’m not mistaken, Smith has some Hollywood connections that were mentioned on a Philly blog before. I think he’s friends with Bruce Willis or some shit.
Well, ain’t that some shit.

Do the Phillies have any 18 year olds? Because the rule seems to be that the reality show contestant be exactly 5 years older than the Phillies player.
they have to do like 2 seasons a year right?
haha, I have no fucking idea. I just guessed that it was on CBS!
yeah i was about to say, no way this show’s been on since 1994
yea Art Howe was hired with Jimy Williams and Davy Lopes before the 2007 season and Howe left before the season started and was replaced by Steve Smith
hahah lynniemac i like it
She’s 23??? Wow. Bad genetics.
I must be the only one who thinks she is pretty hot….
