Evan Longoria Shares An Intimate Moment With Jimmy Rollins
Posted by meech.one at 9:22 pm ET 148 Comments

While accentuating another umpire blunder in this series (that’s #5 if you’re keeping track at home), the FOX graphics team put a purdy little frame around a close-up of Evan Longoria’s glove knuckle-deep in Jimmy Rollins’ ass.  What a gorgeous painting that would make!

You could honestly just crop out the rest of the shot, print that sucker out, and nail it to your living room wall.

Thanks for that, FOX.

  1. Mark Says:

we deserved that make up call

  2. joe Says:

yea. we’ve been F’d in the A enough by the umps. ’bout time we got a makeup call.

  3. How do you spell retard? Says:

Damn, they showed Jimmy being violated over a dozen times! I smell (pun intended) an angry letter from the Parents Television Council being written right now.

  4. Matt Says:

about fuckin time a call goes our way. and it sure looked to me like longoria had some experience with fists in dudes asses there. generally it’s reversed, i believe.

  5. Tug Haines Says:

Speaking of intimate moments, how about Rosenthal talking about how Moyer shit the bed the night before his start?

  6. Mark Says:

I heard somebody say they should put Moyer’s toilet seat in the hall of fame, just like the bloody sock from schilling.

  7. Padgit8r Says:

Matt, you suck your dad’s penis with that mouth? Or the ump’s?

  8. WyattTerp Says:

It’s about time one bad call went in the Phillies favor. The universe is in order and Philly is going to have our first baseball championship since 1980. It’s a beautiful thing.

  9. chris Says:

make up calls are not what the world series needs, at least when it’s that goddamn obvious, that picture shows hes at least a good 3 feet away from the bag. Hellen keller could have made a better call

  10. mitch Says:

CAN YOU SAY INSTANT REPLAY ; HOW ABOUT 3 AGAME PER TEAM

  11. WeaponX20 Says:

What do Evan Longoria and Eva Longoria have in common?…

They’re both doing dick right about now

  12. Jim Says:

At the moment of the tag the umpire’s eyes are looking at the base not at the point of the tag.

  13. saywhatmachine Says:

i was wondering why fox kept showing the glove go up his ass but i guess it represented the network’s news station so well that they decided to frame it…

  14. Lazarus Says:

I was laughing when it happened thinking about all that Rollins has done for this team over the years and if they get this thing done, as it really seems they will, that shot will be one of defining moments of his career.. having some guy shoving a mitt half way up his ass.. so much for justice. :)

  15. CAROL Says:

I’m so glad that all the calls are going against the Rays. Bunch whiners when they don’t get there call. There down like 8-2 or something like that and Maddon wants the ump to check the hat of the pitcher…please b*tch, your losing and what’s the only way to get something your way, is make the other team look bad or if there cheating. I’m so happy that it’s going down hill for the Rays, this is what happens when you let it get to you head and you think you can play with the big boys. I’m a huge ass Red Sox fan and i’m rooting for the Phillies to win it. Now the Rays know how it feels when the calls don’t go there way…hmmm looks familiar, huh???? So now when the Rays lose, they and there loser fair weather fans can just go away, we won’t have to see them and there stupid ass hairdo’s and those friggin’ stupid cowbells, and that dumb old guy Dick whatever his last name, can go back to his old folks home and just fade away…. This is the only time I will be rooting for the NL to take the WS, then in 09 the AL will reclaim it…lol….GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Wildbunch Says:

Phillies suck, they were lucky to get out of L.A… Ryan Coward sucks, Chase Buttley sucks, and Jimmy Ballins sucks. Hopefully the Rays will come back and win this Series, they are deserving of it, but most likely it will be handed to the Phillies (isnt that a female horse?) by the umps.

  17. CAROL Says:

    hey wildbunch….

Rays ain’t that good to come back from 3-1. there going to looooooooooooooose!!!!!

  18. Wildbunch Says:

Maybe so, Im not a Rays fan, but they have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball, been dead last in thier division since they became a franchise. It would be nice to see the underdog win it for a change.

  19. bill Says:

when you send some thing in where every preson like kids can read it need to clean it up. also the umps may make bad calls at least thay are out there doing the job if you think you can do better you get out there.

  20. Big Lemon Says:

With the Phillies and Rays in the World Series, I’m extremely nuetral. But have to say this is one of the worst umpires series of any sort in years. Not only are the umps blowing the calls on base, but they are using multiple strike zone within one game. Just teribble and unfair to the players how inconsistant thiw Umpire Squad is. They should be dumped for the B team before game 5.

  21. John Says:

I saw a lot of bad strike calls against the Rays as well. Sure this game was not decided by bad calls, but home runs instead. But who is to say that the bad calls didn’t take some of the zip out of the rays pitches? It’s a theory.

  22. Mike Says:

Hey wildbunch… what makes you think that the Rays are the underdog of this series? A large majority of sports writers and Vegas odds makers gave the Rays much better odds of winning it all… You are probably a butthurt bandwagon Rays fan though, so you don’t know a GD thing about baseball…

And yes, the umpiring in this whole series, on both sides, sucks horribly…

But anyway, to say that the Rays are more deserving of this than the Phillies if absolutely ridiculous. The rays have been around for 10 years, the Phillies have been around for over a century and are the most losing team in all major professional sports… and you are saying that the Rays are the feel-good story? Dream on man, you are delusional.

I do agree with you on one thing though… it IS about time the underdog won it for a change…

  23. Corey Says:

the umpires suck in this series, but the Phils got screwed in games 2 and 3 so at least they suck pretty evenly! yes Rollins was out, but the score was 10-2, it had no effect on the game so stop cryin Rays fans! The play in game 3 in the 7th where Howard clearly had the ball before the runner reached base had an effect on the final score but the better team didn’t whine, they figured out a way to win! The Better Team is winning the series whether the umps suck or not! So the Rays fans can stick their cowbells where the sun don’t shine, better luck next year cry babies!

  24. pacaya Says:

The umpiring has not been too good in this series. Rollins was out but no one can argue that it affected the outcome. Of course the national media probably won’t recogniize the Phillies as a good team. They’ve been too busy talking about Ray hawks and cowbells to notice that Philadelphia is playing better than the Rays all around. People like Wildbunch don’t know anything about baseball if they think a team like LA had a chance. Everyone jumped on the Dodgers bandwagon when they beat the Cubs. They must not have watched the games or they would have seen that the Cubs lost because they played terrible baseball. It doesn’t matter what you do in the regular season if you don’t bring it in the play offs. The Dodgers only made it to the playoffs because of Manny. The Dodgers didn’t have the depth to beat a team like the Phillies. As far as the Rays deserving to win, I won’t disagree but the best team will win and right now the Phillies are playing the best. The Rays are a great story but maybe now people will finally respect Philadelphia for a change and recognize that the Phillies are playing the best baseball because they are a very good team who has come of age. This is only the beginning. The Phillies are built to win for quite a few years. One more win!

  25. Tom Says:

John, your right this game had alot of homeruns indeed. Can’t be that hard to hit a homerun when the umpires are forcing the Rays pitchers to throw right down the middle of the plate. Might as well put a tee ball players tee on the home plate for the Phillies batters. They weren’t batting in any other of the other series they played, hence the reason they were (what’s the statement they used?) slumping in offense. The umpires in this series took care of that though. Tampa Bay will be forced to pitch right down the middle and if they don’t we will walk all the Phillies batters which is just as good as a hit.

  26. Wildbunch Says:

Its funny when fans get all butthurt, I am not a Rays fan or a bandwagon Rays fan, I am a fan of the game. I am a N.L. fan, but yes the Rays are a feel good story. They are deserving of it with the for-mentioned lowest payroll, and not to mention of of the youngest teams in baseball. Its nice to see that you dont need a bunch of over-priced guys to play a kids game. The Phills will probably win the series, but it dont mean they deserve it. I think Cub fans would disagree with your theory that the Phills are the most losing francise in sports.

  27. Mike Says:

Tom, did you watch the same game as the rest of us… Scratch that, did you watch any of the post season at all? All October there has been questionable strike calling for every fucking team involved. Get over it… what’s with all the whiny ass excuses? What about that fastball that Madson blew right by Eva to strike her ass out lookin’? Was that not right down the middle of the plate enough for you/him? Don’t cry because the better team is winning…

If you really believe that the Rays are getting any worse play calling out of this than the Phillies are, you are on something.

Oh, and how is TB’s offense doing right now? What’s the statement they used? Oh, that’s right, slumping. What are the 3-4 hitters doing right now? Something like 0 for 29, with RISP and no RISP alike? Stop crying, we are the better team. You wanna win the world series? Get Eva and Pena to produce something other than 29 outs and maybe you’ll have a shot.

Here’s my question… if the Rays are more deserving of this than the Phillies, why aren’t they earning it? The way I see it, the team that earns it is the team that deserves it…

I can’t believe how many butthurt TB fans are in this post… it’s amazing.

  28. Mike Says:

Hey wildbunch… you really are a fucking idiot… the Phillies franchise has over 10,000 losses… more than any other professional sports team, period… They have only one World Championship in over 120 years of service…

I wasn’t just pulling that statement out of my ass… it’s a fact, you prick.

You really truly don’t know a god damn thing about baseball, and it’s clear you are NOT a “fan of the game”.

  29. Richard Says:

I am a Phillies fan and have been since 1980 when they won the series. He is clearly out. The umping stinks in this series. I would love to see the Phillies win. However, since I now reside in Tampa it wouldn’t be the worst thing to see Rays win. I love to see a team win it for the first time. I would love to see the Phillies beating the Yankees though.

  30. Wildbunch Says:

ha ha listen to you whiners, I couldgo on all night long, its a funny thing to get poor fans of poor teams rialed up.

  31. eddie Says:

who even cares anymore?…the umps screw it up so we will never know who the best team is…good thing the nfl is on…who needs baseball when it is fixed like this?

  32. Wildbunch Says:

    Amen to that eddie

  33. Wildbunch Says:

how about them Beagles, oops I mean Eagles

  34. Mike Says:

    Wildbunch:

    Cubs:
    138 years… 2 World championships, 16 NL penants, 5 division titles, 1 wild card.
total record as of end of ‘07: 9985W – 9459L

    Phillies:
    125 years… 1 World championship, 6 NL Penants, 8 division titles, 0 wild cards.
total record as of end of ‘07: 8853W – 10028L

Maybe you should do some fact checking before the shit rolls off your tongue…

I’m not saying I’m proud of how losing my team is… I just thing that it’s about god damn time we got our time to shine.

I’m sorry that I thought you were a Rays fan… it’s clear to me that you just “love the game”, or maybe you just love trolling.

  35. pacaya Says:

ummm…… fact check. The Phillies franchise has lost over 10,000 games in their history, the most ever in baseball. That’s an official fact. If the Cubs want to win a championship they will need to learn to win in the post season. The Phillies have paid their dues. Their time has come. If the Rays can keep this young group together they will have more chances. But this is one the Phillies have been building for and now the hard work is paying off. That’s what deserving it means, not having the lowest payroll.

  36. Wildbunch Says:

Night guys its been fun. Good luck to your Phills for the rest of the series.

  37. john Says:

wow, it is so obvious he was out, my grandma could have made that call and shes dead!

  38. Mike Says:

Good night Wildbunch, it’s been fun having you with us tonight. I give your trolling a 7/10, I would definitely consider making you look like an idiot/asshole again…

  39. josh Says:

wildbunch…whether or not your a rays fan…you’re making us all look bad. The only Rays fans who really care about this thing are the fans that have been there watching fred mcgriff, toby hall, ty wigginton, rocco baldelli and everyone else when we sucked. It’s not fun being a fan of a shitty team but it’s respectable. The rays will probably lose the series, but that doesn’t mean im not proud of them, and it definitely doesn’t mean im gonna forget about them next season. The fact that the Rays were playing in October really blew my mind, so it’s been fun. and to matt…the red sox fan…im getting tired of you a-holes calling every rays supporter a “bandwagon fan”. some of us have been fans longer than the rest. doesn’t mean we didn’t accomplish something amazing. worst – first, 10 years until it took us to make it to the world series on top of the AL east. your red sox never had a curse you just sucked for 83 years. and why did you put a retard in charge of naming your team? couldn’t the dipshit town of boston come up with a better name than “red sox”?

  40. Joe Blow Says:

You all are idiots and don’t know crap, so just shut the F#$% up and get a life

  41. josh Says:

if you come to the trop during regular season when the rays play boston, you can see how many fair weather boston fans there are too. i met several sox fans who couldn’t name 5 players from your 2004 WS team so don’t try to pretend that y’all have a better team than the rays. we completely made beckett and youkillis our bitches that whole series.

  42. Joe Blow Says:

Rollins loved where that clove was placed and he was out!

  43. Mike Says:

All of your tears are only making us stronger… we thrive on butthurt fans tears… we drink that shit down and like it…

  44. C,C,S,andJ...R..G*Y Says:

It is phunny to see the comments from the Phillies phan base saying Evan Longoria is g*y and calling him Eva. This coming from dudes that where shirts for guys named…Chase, Cole, Shane and Jamie. Seems like the Phlaming Phillies instead of Phighting Phils…ew…Philadelphia fans are so intimidating…bunch of Phunks…..Just like the Eagle fans that have their face paint run on their way home as they cry yet again….It would be really great to see the Phillies collapse and the whole nation is rooting for it…..Maybe Chase and Cole can hold hands together in the Philly g*yborhood….hahaha…LOL….

  45. Brian Says:

Josh, you couldn’t be any stupider. Youkillis hit two homers in the series, while Beckett was the game 6 winner. And you think those fairweather fans are cheering for the Red Sox instead of the Rays, because they DON’T suck? As for the name Red Sox, it was a part of their uniform back then to have red sockings on over their socks. Idiot.

  46. Jimmy Says:

Buncha typical filly whiners..waaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaa WAAAAAA..it would make a difference in your argument if he had actually been safe, he was out by a MILE. And i would enjoy watching this team choke the series more than i watched the BEAGLES stink up the Super Bowl.

  47. Ben Dover Says:

I would love it if he did that to my A**

  48. Barry Bonds Says:

    GO GIANTS!

  49. Jenny Says:

Go phillies! who cares if he was out or safe…one play isn’t going to make or break a series…the phillies are doing great…show some love! *peace*

  50. phillies fan Says:

well this is a make up call from the night before when moyer and howard got that rays guy out at first but the ump called him safe…..the funny thing is i think it was the same ump. the sad thing is that j-roll’s ass is going to be all over the news!

    GO PHILS!

  51. comrade freedom Says:

Enjoy your success now Phillies fans come next year the Mets will be the ones sticking things in Rollins’ ass.

  52. jim Says:

whats with all the foul language allowed in the comments

  53. noah filzer Says:

ya this is not make up call, this is baseball with human umpires , mistakes happen, thats baseball

  54. Boingo Small Says:

    Go Tampa!!!!!!!! Phillies are awesome!!!!

  55. Evolve Says:

Any sport that requires gambling Umps,Refs or Judges will always be subject to stupidity .But
maybe we will address that in another 100 years . So far cavemen and rednecks alike would
rather see a shorter unfair game with bad calls in every game to even out out for the bad calls
made in a game before…That call made about as much since as a Philly resident coming down
here to Florida and asking for a Philly steak and cheese …Kind of the same stupid thing Canadians do when they get here ,and ask for Canadian bacon…Im in Tampa ,but I will say both Rays &
Phillies are great teams ,Philly just has more players that can hit the ball , But on the same note
, when Philly was down here playing we were not CLEVER enough to get the whole stadium to change a mans name to a females name and chant it the whole game ,WOW.

  56. Robert Says:

Everybody complains about the umpires maybe they should give it a try I know it’s not easy but nobody’s perfect. Would you like cheese and crackers to go with that wine

  57. Slip Says:

The umpire no doubt bet on the Phillies in this game. Call was not even close ( OUT ! ) and yet the ump made the call without any hesitation – didn’t even consult with home plate ump. It is hard to believe they let this travesties like this continue to happen.

  58. allen crigger Says:

All of you people?? what comments all of you can go to hell for talking like that you are nothing but a bunch of babies

  59. Franklin Says:

    Hi all,
I am a Red Sox fan. I am sorry to see they didn`t get to the series this year, but as we are famous for saying, just wait till next year. There has been bad calls made, not just in the post season but all season long. The main problem as I see it is that you have people that are going to have a favorite team or a favorite player and that is going to color the judgement of the call. The only way is to use sophisticated technology to take out the guess work. Till then there are going to be mistakes made. I think one way to make surw that the real obvious ones are cut down would be to put a hefty fine in place. One that would hurt the pocket. As for who wins this world series,I really don`t care and have not been watching it. Which ever team wins will be the one that does a better job of overcoming the bad calls. It may not be the most deserving team or the better team, just the luckier team.
There is also a way to cut down on all the complaining, cut the post season down to single game playoffs like they do in football. One chance to win,if you don`t then there is always next year. There is one last thing I would like to say. That is that Stienbrenner of the yankees has kept his promise to yankee fans, they haven`t lost a world series since the loss to the Diamondbacks. Way to go yankees. LOL

  60. Walter Says:

I think this is the worst comments that I’ve ever read. You people, calling Rays fans a bunch of ****. How sad this country has become. Have you nothing better to do. It’s a GAME. That’s all. These great players on both teams are blessed to play a game for a living and making a good living at that. The umps have made horrible calls against both teams. You get over it and move on. These two teams have made it to the World Series. I’m a Rays fan, and I’m excited for my team, and if they lose the series, I am still just as happy. They did what they weren’t expected to do. I know of no sports writer that picked the Rays, or Phillies to get where they are. Get a life people. IT’S JUST A GAME!!!!

  61. Gerry Says:

How can the Phillies be proud of a win when it was the umpires who gave it to them. Sure they had some good hits but the Rays pitcher couldn’t get a strike called by the ump unless it was right over the middle of the plate. Come on – the strike zone is a lot bigger than that. That along with the very bad call at third makes you wonder, did the Phillies really win that game on their talents???

  62. James Says:

Who really cares who wins this WS. Like anyone seen that you would see the Rays vs Phillies in the fall classic. Next Year it will be all back to the same way it always is. Twins, White Sox, Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Dodgers, Cardinals, Mets, Diamondbacks, and maybe Phillies. But I bet ya the Red Sox or Yankees win it next year they always do. I am Glad Jamie Moyer finally after 100 years has a chance to win Championship

  63. Mike Says:

The ammount of butthurt in here is absolutely wonderful… And all the Rays fans are so easy to spot because of their absolute lack of basic baseball knowledge… it’s hilarious.

We’ve been waiting and cheering for 28 years… y’all have been waiting and cheering for about a month.

And to all you dummies that think this play actually made a difference at all… the Phillies won 10-2… I’ll spot you the run back… ok then they won 9-2. You want a few more? I’ll spot you both of Ryan Howards homers too…. oh shit… they still win 4-2!!!

I said it before and I’ll say it again… if the Rays deserved to win this, they would be earning it… The Phillies are earning it.

They are the better team, get over it. Dry your eyes, and get over it.

  64. Jim Says:

OK Let’s get with it BB. You finally have instant replay Such calls as this (and others that we know of) show that it is time to be used in ALL baseball games.
I think it is needed more in championship games where a missed or wrong call can result in a loss for a team that would have won if it had been right.
Walter. Fans are just that — fanatics. “my team right or wrong”

  65. Ashley Says:

SCREW THE DEVIL RAYS!!! Who the hell are they??
It’s all about the Phillies!!!!! I’m going to be in Philly all day today…its going to be NUTS!! WOO HOO!!! :)

  66. How do you spell retard? Says:

Comment of the night goes to Ben Dover.

  67. Ray Says:

makes you wonder if the umpires are on the take just like basketball referees have been. These guys are presumablely the best baseball has to offer.

  68. Mike Says:

Hey Jim… are you trying to say that that call at third cost the rays the game?

Denial is not just a river in Egypt people… The Phillies are the bonafied real deal…

  69. Mahesh Says:

What a mature bunch of sports fans. Why not just give each other wedgies?

  70. PattheFan Says:

Mike: Your should wash your mouth out with soap. Using the most vulgar language doesn’t make you a smart sports person, it just makes you sound ignorant. An intelligent person can get their point across without having to resort to vulgarity and denigrating those who don’t agree with you. You really need to get a life, I count 6 responses from you in the middle of the night. Perhaps a good night sleep will make you less cranky.

Carol, the word is “their” not “there” and “you’re losing” not “your losing”. Perhaps a review of the dictionary and a return to spelling class might be a better way to spend your time. Another one with the vulgarities.

These blogs are supposed to be fun. You can disagree and call the other person’s team a dog, etc., but it should be a place to express opionions, not foul up the internet with blather and vulgarity.

  71. Joe Says:

He was out and he was also hit by a pitch the other night, but the umps fouled up both calls, so maybe that was the umps way of aplogizing or Jimmy’s uniform is magical and can’t detect being hit by a ball or having a glove up the butt ! ! ! Either way our Phillies are one win away and both of those calls did not determine the outcome. Hope Tug is looking down and smiling!

  72. linny Says:

At least he wore a glove before that very public rectal exam.

  73. bear Says:

I hear they are going to put the UMPS on the MVP list…..The guy was freakin..out”” Maybe Evan should have made the ump SMELL THE GLOVE”’

  74. Rocky Johnson Says:

The only way the Phillies can win is by constantly receiving “bad calls” by the umpires…(pick-off-balk of Pena ??, non-tag of Rollins…). This WS was a set up from the beginning,…Phillies fans; enjoy your hollow victory.

  75. DJ Says:

Crapicanna Field is a joke. I wouldn’t have a Little League team play in that dump.

  76. linny Says:

You all sound like a bunch of Cubs fans complaining about Bartman! Or is it, by the looks of this photo, Fartman? Get your gloves out of your Aces and play ball! This is a 7 freakin game series.

  77. tony Says:

Listen all the game is a game if the phillies do win good for you they play and the better teams make it to the world ser well you are all bitching about whos team is better well I am a red sox fan I am upset they didnt get in but the Rays deserve to be there and so do the phillies may the better team win and by the looks of it the Phillies are that team yes the umps need a go through before next season and we hope tyhe commissiner does something about the Umps and tagg them like they do the players everyone needs to stop crying because your team bever made it the 2 best teams in baseball are there and thats that hope next yr it will be a better yr for your teams and good luck to all Tony

  78. allen Says:

    Hail to the redskins

  79. tony Says:

hey Allen they are playing good ball

  80. Mike Says:

    PattheFan:
All I’m hearin from your direction is “BAWWWWWWWWW, BAWWWWWWWWWWW”

I’m also glad to see that you got your degree in Internet English 101. Your ability to correctly spell and punctuate sentences is both unimpressive and irrelevant in this particular blog. You want to police the comments in a blog? Why don’t you start your own blog up where you can call the shots, and you can take points away for poor spelling and punctuation, and give extra credit points for 10 dollar words like “denigrating”. I’m sorry, that last sentence was a run-on, I guess I must need to go back to school or something. Why don’t you do us all a favor and go be better than the rest of us someplace else; We can definitely do without all the histrionics.

And people, for real, this is a Phillies blog… I don’t know if you realized that or not, but it’s a Phillies blog. If you don’t want to read our POV, go elsewhere.

Also, who ever said that this blog was a “SFW” type or family friendly blog? Go back and look at the posts here. On second though, don’t. It will clearly be more than you can stomach…

  81. R Says:

Whoa! You Philly fans are a bit pissy. Now I will be rooting for the Rays. Turn around is always good, makes us realize we should not be such a pussy. That is the way b-ball goes. The umps call on Moyers was bad, the ump could not see the ball in hand. He was blocked and not in position to make the call. The ump should have asked the home plate ump for assistance, but they also do not do that in b-ball. Maybe they can and just don’t. Probably because it is bang bang and the fan wants-expects an immediate call. Maybe we are the problem.

Still enjoying b-ball and I am in Wisconsin but from Chi-Town. Stop complaining if your team is still in it and remember it’s not over till it’s over.

  82. Nick Says:

I don’t think that the bad umping is really having a whole lot of effect on the outcomes of theses games, but if anything, that kind of thing can definitely be demoralizing. As of now, the Rays are playing good ball, and it’s hard to say why not, but these calls certainly were game-breaking mistakes. I do however have to say something to all the people who say that at “at least these umpires are out there doing” and “if you think you can do better why don’t you get out there?” It isn’t my job to ump these games, and yet the calls are being blown blatantly enough to be seen in real-time. Sure, these guys probably have it harder out there than we think, but it is their job to make these calls, and this is the World Series. I’m not a Rays or Phillies fan, but I would like to see some good baseball before this season is over, and at this point the umps need to get into the game and quit blowing calls. Bad calls are not good for baseball, clear and simple.

Hey Mike take an damn chill pill so what the spelling is off and who gave you a fucking teachers degree anyway to place your mouth anywhere yeah so its a Phillies Blog so whay maybe he should have stuck the glove up your ass

  84. Colin Says:

I’m a Red Sox fan that was at game 7 in Tampa, and I was amazed at what a-holes rays fans were, or at the very least, what a-holes the people that bought a hat with a TB on it in the past two weeks. I have been to many games in opposing stadiums where the the Sox lost and haven’t been taunted and accosted like I was at the Trop. I’d say act like you’ve been there before, but we know how that doesn’t relate to new found rays fans.
Late in the season, with your team in first place, you losers didn’t even show up to see what is actaully a great baseball team. (by the way, the rays team was better in there series and did deserve to win, it’s the so called fans I have a problem with).
Sooooooo, I am very happy to see real fans, eventhough they despise my teams most of the time, you have to acknowledge what die hard fans Phillies fans are and enjoy that real fans will be celebrating when it is all said and done!!!
    GO PHILS!!!

  85. Steve Says:

I hate when umps get it wrong, even if it is for the team I’m rooting for. Fortunately this was not a gimming deciding call. GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!

  86. Mike Says:

Rocky Johnson, I guess you have selective vision (if there’s such a thing). I seem to remember a certain “Strike Three! Take your base!” call and a completely missed hit by pitch call the other night on Jimmy Rollins, not to mention the clear out at 1st base on Saturday night.

Summary of what’s going on in here:

    Phillies win.
    Butthurt TB fans cry.
Internet English lessons from Professor PattheFan
    More crying.
People only remembering blown calls for the Phillies, not all the ones that went against them.
People try to argue that one blown call would make the difference in a 10-2 game.

At the end of the day/beginning of this one… only one thing matters:

The World Series stands at Philadelphia 3, Tampa Bay 1.

  87. Darkdragon Says:

Hey there have been blown calls on both sides of the ball in this series. Way to many.
The umpires have been a disgrace. REPLAY is is the only way to stop this garbage. I would not do it in the regular season.
But in the playoff’s and world series. You betcha.
Simply put. I am not a Phillies or Ray’s fan. But Philly has flat out played the Ray’s in this series.

  88. Darkdragon Says:

Umpires being on the take. Absolutly. Baseball has been fixed for years.

  89. Mike Says:

In case anyone is wondering, just to clear it up, the Umps aren’t required to ask anyoneelse for assistance… If they feel they NEED assistance, they are more than welcome to ask for help from another ump, but it is not a requirement. This is the way the game is played, this is the way the game has been played for years upon years. Get over it… please.

And for the record… I am by no means arguing that the umpiring in this World Series has been good. On the contrary, it’s been horrid. But think about it people, the BS is flowing in both directions. If you are blind to that, something is wrong… you are not watching closely enough.

To say that the Umps are “gifting” the Phillies the WS is absolutely nonsense. You are not only making the whole thing look bad, you’re making yourself look completely and utterly ignorant and childish. Be like grown men/women and suck it up and get over it if your team lost.

The fact of the matter is that the Phillies won 10-2 last night. It was an 8 run blow-out. One blown call at third doesn’t matter in the scheme of things.

Regardless of the final outcome of the series the umpires have been an absolute disgrace, although not as bad as the comment about Longoria’s experience with fists by Matt the ‘Tard!

  100. Carlos Melchio Says:

The umpires have done a REALLY bad job, but some bad calls cost more than others. Just adding up the bad calls against each team is meaningless. The question is “How did it affect the game?’ and that is impossible to tell — even for the players and coaches. I don’t like instant replay, but if we get it, you can blame the umps for potentially changing the outcome of too many important games. Thanks, guys.

  101. Brian Says:

What I don’t get is why everyone keeps calling the Rays the underdog? They are the #2 seed in the AL, while the Phils are number 2. The Rays have the better pitching staff, or should I say HAD. The World Series is not the time to choke and thats what the Rays are doing. Anyone remember 06? Thats right sports fans! The Rays have become the Tigers! Longoria was clutch all year and now sucks. MR ALCS MVP Garza got blown up by a fastball hitting lineup. And If Jaime Moyer and Joe Blanton can tame the Rays lineup… LOL GTFO HATERS! PHILLIES IN 5 BABY!

  102. Luthien Says:

Is drunk trolling a new sport?

The trolls here didn’t get here by accident – you came with an intention. If you don’t like the Phillies or their fans, GO AWAY! There’s a little “x” up in the right hand corner – click it, and all of the evil Phillies fans having a good time because we might actually win for a change will disappear, just like magic!!!

    Grow up, people, please.

As a Boston fan, I am partial to neither the Phillies or the Rays, however, due to past experiences with people from Philadelphia (one of the dirtiest cities in America FYI) Eagles fans, are the biggest group of asses i have ever come in contact with… Phillies fans are all thrilled they’re winning, who wouldn’t be… I am ecstatic when Boston wins, but will never insult another team (besides the Yankees) who is deserving of credit… the Rays from from worst to first, and all their young players are all finally coming together as one, can’t we just respect them instead of calling them all gay… I hope the Phillies do win, just to shut you all up… Tampa fans are classy and deserve to win this…

  105. Mike Says:

DarkDragon says basbeall has been fixed… thanks for that bit of unproven information there pete rose… the only sport that was fixed was basketball, and that problem has been dealt with… you can’t fix a baseball game… you can’t tell a pitcher to give up homeruns, and fielders to make errors… completely false, and ignorant… definately not a sports fan… moron

  107. KnowItAll Says:

that doesn’t effect me…. we didn’t play well, I’ll be the first to say that… When McNabb stays healthy, and the Eagles can make it out of the NFC East, since they are clearly the weakest link, then we can chat about football

  108. DJ Says:

Tampa fans are classy? I’m guessing that’s sarcasm because they are anything BUT classy. I am praying Philly wraps it up next game so nobody is subjected to those STUPID annoying cowbells. If they had ANY class they would have been supporting their team all season, not just the last 3 weeks. Even when they were blowing everyone away, Crapicanna was still empty. No, they do NOT have class, just crass.

  109. How do you spell retard? Says:

First!!! Wait, was I too late?

  110. KnowItAll Says:

Classy as in polite… go talk to one, nicest fans around… maybe beacuse they are all retired persons but still… as far as the cowbell thing, it’s a sign of support… more entertaining and original than the dumb towels Phillies fans wave around, the Steelers made that famous, try doing something original… what do you think you’re too late for retard?

  111. Brian Says:

Let the QQ train begin! Hope Philly is celabrating now cuz they won the world series! Well I guess they HAVE to play game 5 but I mean really? Hamels? Isnt he pretty much game over anyways? Good night Rays finally people can stfu bout that guy with the 250-1 bet. REALITY CHECK RAYS FANS!

  112. DJ Says:

Towels are quiet and make a great presence, cowbells are loud and obnoxious -not entertaining.

  113. Jimmy Says:

Yes, it was a bad call… and despite what the national media says about the Phillies, they came out of Florida 1-1 after not playing well at all, except for Hamels, and despite the umps handing the Rays game 2 (Baldelli should have been out, on a play that DID matter). So, now that we have to have a game 5, the Phillies are back to form, and they don’t really need bad calls to help them out, anyway. But maybe the Rays still do.

  114. Mike Says:

    KnowItAll:
Go pick up some Preparation H for your sore butt… I’m sorry that your team is off playing golf somewhere right now, but we’ll take it from here… We’ll finish what you couldn’t…

Also, our fans may be the “most obnoxious”, but I can think of another group of fans that are just as bad… They hail from your neck of the woods. Maybe you have heard of them: The Boston Red Sox fans. Not only some of the most obnoxious fans in all of professional sports, but far and away one of the largest bandwagons too.

  115. Thomas Says:

  116. Franklin Says:

    Hey Mike,
Obviously you don`t travel much. I do travel. When I travel during baseball season the only time hotels place extra security is when the yankees are in town. I have asked why and was told because the yankees create so much damage and scare away guests. During the ball season frequent travelers ask if the yankees are in town, If they are the travelers book a room at a different hotel. It affects the bottom line for these hotels.
So don`t you say one bad word about RED SOX fans. I have been one ever since I can remember and was always there for them win or lose. Sure like any true fan I would be upset when they lost, what true fan wouldn`t be. I for myself never took it out on the opposing team or the fans of said team. I did tell the umps what i thought of thier umping skills but then who doesn`t.

  117. KnowItAll Says:

No sore butt here, the Red Sox lost to the better team, we were missing some key elements this season, the Rays had it going… we are hardly obnoxious… if you consider winning and being a proud nation obnoxious then yeah we probably are bad… I’m not hating on the Phillies, I enjoy the Phillies, I even use them in my video games so nothing against the Phillies, it just is disheartening to watch people disrespect other teams for no reason… bandwagon, i think not, we sell out Fenway every game, rain or shine

  118. KnowItAll Says:

Franklin appears to be the most intelligent man posting on here… along with myself… Win or lose the sox are my team… bandwagon… ha… makes me laugh..

  119. Franklin Says:

    Yes KnowItAll,
We are a couple of smart ones here. I have never bandwagoned the RED SOX have always been a true fan win or lose. Love going to FENWAY and watching the boys play. GO SOX GO win or lose we are with you.

  120. pacaya Says:

Everyone here needs to grow up. There are @ssholes in every city. When the Red Sox were in Philly two years ago there were a bunch of drunk Boston fans walking around yelling obcenities and taunting Phillies fans. I happened to sit next to some friendly Red Sox fans and we had a good time talking about baseball as fans of opposite teams. People need to stop acting like cavemen and show some class. Go Phillies!

  121. Mike Says:

“LOL OMG The only 2 smart people in here are me and the only other dude that agrees with me/likes the same team I do! Hurr durr…”

  122. KnowItAll Says:

I don’t understand how I am being classless… I have nothing against the Phillies… it just urks me to watch people harrass professional athletes, just because they wear a different uniform… i agree with the grow-up statement

  123. KnowItAll Says:

That’s pretty clever Mike… simple sarcasm… I have nothing against the fans of other teams, or other teams in general… I do appreciate your input though, very useful

  124. pacaya Says:

I didn’t intend to imply you were classless, Knowitall. I was trying to address all the people on here that don’t understand what being a good sport means. Name calling and questioning someones sexuality makes you look like the idiot. I’m not even sure why I’m trying to bring reason to a place where some people aren’t even capable of it.

  125. KnowItAll Says:

Alright, I misunderstood your comment… sportsmanship is a lost art… and complaining about officiating and umpiring never changes anything either, just like athletes, they are doing the best they can, if they were as bad as everyone said they were, they would be in a different profession…

  126. sher545 Says:

If the Phillies are an example of a NL team, then I am definately glad to support an AL team. The nasty disrespect that they show is a poor example set for thier rude, nasty fans! In all the AL games I have watched, never have the teams or fans acted like animals! All games have thier ‘booing’, or ‘towel waving’, ‘bell ringing’ behaviors and that is part of the game. But to call names, throw beer on fans, call nasty names, and chase women into restrooms? Come on…this is a game, and all this behavior does is bring down the integrity of the game. It’s too bad that in a city that is the seat of our democracy, they have not educated the people to be proud and supportive without sinking to the level of scumbags & hooligans!

  127. Brian Hall Says:

Actually KnowItAll, Pittsburgh did not start the waving of towels. It started at a hockey game. Pretty sure it was Vancouver or Winnipeg. You might wanna know what your talking about before you start bashing fans.

  128. Mike Says:

sher545: TB fan for 1.5 months and counting. You obviously have never seen a Red Sox or Yankees game have you?

This is a classic example of trolls trolling trolls…. I will admit that I am one of the trolls trolling other trolls… I’m trying out for the National League Troll All-Stars. How am I doing?

  129. Franklin Says:

your doing good mike keep up the good work,I`ll vote for you

  130. KnowItAll Says:

Sorry to misinform everyone Brian… I didn’t think to consult Wikipedia before I made a statement… 90% of America understand the point I was trying to make and the relation between the Phillies towels, and the “Terrible Towel” in Pittsburgh… the other 10% are probably from Canada…ehhh

  131. GM-Carson Says:

That Longoria/J-Roll image is a beauty. One to repost every couple months just for poops and chuckles.

  132. PhillyCuban Says:

Just because I wasted too much time that I’ll never be able to get back, im gonna make a comment or two for the record.

@ the term Red Sox Bandwagon. If you are from the Boston/New England area and are a Red Sox fan and have been all your life, you obviously are a fan. But there was no “Red Sox Nation” before 4 years ago, and everybody jumped on the bandwagon from other parts of the country when they all rooted against the evil billion dollar payroll Yankees who had a 3-0 lead.

@Ben Dover. 2 votes for best comment, but this one from one of the so called trollers is honorable mention: “what do you think you’re too late for retard?”

And IMO debating whose fans are the best/worst is completely pointless, especially if you’ve never been to that stadium or even that city. It’s the same as debating whose teams are the best/worst except without stats and records to support any arguments. Loudness is about the only thing you can use to maybe determine something

  133. sher545 Says:

actually, Mike, have seen MANY red sox and yankees games!!! (so much for your crystal ball) & I can tell you that never have they been as classless and disrespectful as you Phillie fans….who are a disgrace to the league!

  134. sher545 Says:

oh, in answer to ‘how am I doing?’ ……pitiful

About Tim Welke: I sat in Section 434 on Sunday, April 13th (Cubs v. Phillies) and watched a Mark DeRosa foul ball get called a home run by the brothers Welke and the rest of that ne’er-do-well platoon. Cost the Fightins the game and a series sweep of the Cubbies. So it stands to reason that he is a thoroughly awful official and probably has astigmatism or something as well.

  138. Mo Cowbell Says:

You…I don’t find you entertaining at all.

  139. Mo Cowbell Says:

I agree, but I don’t think its because of an astigmatism or something as well. I think its just because he’s a Philly’s fan.

Philly’s organization are a bunch of cheaters.

We beat you in Football, We beat you in Hocky…baseball shouldn’t be that difficult either…well, actually yeah, when you pay the umps to call plays and games in your favor!

If what you say is true though, Mo Cowbell, then maybe the Rays should take some of that money they’re not paying their players and follow suit.

  142. Mo Cowbell Says:

Good point. He’s clearly a criminal mastermind. Tim Wilke (originally from Michigan) loves the Phils so much that he made some stratigic moves to put them in a position to absolve this city of its horrible sports history. Wow, what a guy.
