Does Shane Victorino get walkoff hits on the eve of the Final Vote?
Posted by meech.one at 10:51 pm ET 46 Comments

NO. QUESTIONS. ASKED.

He just won a ballgame for you, the least you could do is go to MLB.com and vote for him.

Tell ‘em, Chan Ho.

UPDATED (AGAIN): Here’s a way to vote over and over again easily. I tried it, it works: According to some helpful gentleman in the comments, this probably won’t register. Sorry.

Download Google Chrome
Go to the MLB voting page
Enter all your info, including the validation number code
Click with your mouse on Vote Now button
On the next screen, where it says Click to Vote Again, click that and then instead of having to enter the number code, just hit the enter key on your keyboard (don’t use the mouse to click) and your vote will go in and you will see the “successful vote recorded/vote again” screen.

DO IT!

    Sweet .gif, Tugger.

    By the way, I’m loving the NQA series of posts driving the vote, great work fellas. I’ll be doing a whole bunch more tonight, and I know you’ll all do the same.

    Are we going to get the Flyin’ Hawaiian into the All-Star Game?

    NO

    QUESTIONS

    ASKED.

  6. dlhunter Says:

    The sad thing is Chan Ho has no idea what that sign says, Moyer told him it kept out evil ERA spirits.

  7. will.H Says:

    i hope pablo goes 0-4 with two types of diabetes

  8. Mike Says:

    genius! been spam voting since i read the post! someone get me some crack, im going all night.

  9. lebowski Says:

    I think it’s skeevy that MLB doesn’t release the vote totals. I wonder if this selection gets audited, or the claims they make, for that matter. But it is a great marketing ploy.

    Unless Pablo finds Osama before the voting closes, I think Shane wins in a landslide after the walkoff.

  10. James Fayleez Says:

    I think it’s sad that Sarge had to use “Wheels” tonight. It makes me think Wheels went to Monty and complained.

    BRING BACK MY “BACK TO YOU TOM…MUFF”

  11. Gonzo Says:

    Wow. no link works for me. Has anyone voted more than 25 times today? I wonder if they capped my votes.

  12. Chris Says:

    I’ve been using that tactic to spam votes non stop now. I’ve easily voted over 1000 times since the game ended tonight.

  13. Watrick Says:

    Can anyone verify that the thing with Google Chrome actually works? I think my scam for the outfielders during regular voting worked, and that’s why Ibanez was voted in, but this seems a little more loop holishly not actually happening.

  14. Watrick Says:

    Yeah, the link on MLB.com didn’t work for me either, here’s the direct link:

    http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2009/fv/ballot.html

    Hopefully, that works. There shouldn’t be a cap on the votes, so keep voting away.

  15. Gonzo Says:

    nevermind. my pop up blocker was in effect. i’m an idiot.

  16. KEK Says:

    This does not work.. It is saving the Thanks for Voting page as some kind of Cookie. Safari does it as well at some point. Only use Firefox and Internet Explorer to vote, or else these SPAM votes are not being counted. If you try to click on another player, click on the Validation Key field, press Enter: it will say Thanks for Voting but list the two players you’ve been voting before (because Cookies is saving a copy of this page and resubmitting it, while the vote goes uncounted). Trust me, it don’t work. Use IE and Firefox to vote for ma’ man Shane.

  17. yellowbird Says:

    yo gonzo hows vaca?

    VOTE 4 SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE

  18. KEK Says:

    We’ve only got to hope that the millions of people in Venezuela (the only reason Shane’s losing) that are voting for Pablo haven’t gained too much ground on account of this (or hope they’re making the same mistake).

  19. Watrick Says:

    Thanks KEK, I was hesitant of trying that method, anyway, and was still putting in the numbers.

  20. Chad Says:

    It works, I’ve been doing it for the past hour.

  21. Gonzo Says:

    it works because it says “Thanks for your vote” afterwards.

    and sorry, although I’ve been technically on vacation for the past year being out of work, I am not the Gonzo from the papers.

  22. Watrick Says:

    Just type in the numbers to make sure it works, you lazy bastards.

  23. Gonzo Says:

    Watrick, I’m not worries. Beltran and Ibanez wont be playing. Shane is a stone cold lock to make it.

  24. Watrick Says:

    Really, as good as NQA has been playing, Werth has been hitting the ball so well these last 2 weeks, maybe he should get it over him.

    Just imagine Victorino in John Kruk’s shoes in that All Star game when he faced Randy Johnson. I wonder what he would have done if the ball came near his head in that game….

  25. Gonzo Says:

    If Josh Beckett is the pitcher, then it will be intentional. He’s a douche. otherwise, it would be considered an accident and Shane would be fine, i think.

  26. PhiPhan5648 Says:

    @Gonzo, Beltran might not play, but from what I’ve heard from Cholly, and the reports. Ibanez intends on playing in the All-Star Gam, probably batting third, so as to get him in for an inning, and then get him out. Cholly appears to be pretty excited about Ibanez getting to the All-star Game, in that he’s going to be getting some free BP, and such.

  27. PhiPhan5648 Says:

    …and I just took a break from voting, for a few moments to check up here. I’ve been voting for about twelve hours now. I started at about 2PM today.

    Anyways… back to voting.

    VOTE FOR SHANE!

  28. Sir Spreadsheet Says:

    Sorry folks — I delved deep into this and have concluded that there is no way that this glitch trick works. I am sure that it DOES submit the vote to the server. But they won’t be counted because they’re trivially identified as spam. Don’t waste your time!

    Here are the gory details. What’s happening is that when you click VOTE NOW, this snippet of Javascript is supposed to be called:

    submitForm = function() {
    if (!verifyKey()) return false;
    else if (!vo_mlb_asg2009_final_vote.validateForm()) return false;
    else document.location.href = “/mlb/events/all_star/y2009/fv/success.html”;
    }

    The “return false” is what should keep the form from submitting. It’s a bug in Google Chrome that hitting Enter submits the form but skips this method.

    The ‘document.location.href = “/mlb/events/all_star/y2009/fv/success.html”‘ is how you know it worked, because that’s the page you’re brought to if you do it the way you’re supposed to.

    Instead, if you hit Enter, Google Chrome brings you to a page with a URL like this one:

    http://outfield.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2009/fv/success.html?FORM_CODE=mlb_asg2009_final_vote&v1=&v3=&lang=en&tcid=&e=pointprovenforever@gmail.com&bd_m=10&bd_d=6&bd_y=1976&co=US&z=21228&v2=84741&imageId=&audioId=&on=yes&ft1=&ft2=&al=276346&nl=425664

    That’s because the browser is trying to submit the form to success.html, and because the action type is GET, it’s putting the values of all the form fields in the URL. For example, &e=pointprovenforever@gmail.com is the value of the e-mail field.

    Note that v2=84741 — that’s the five-digit number, which I did type in for this submission. Note that there is no value given for v1.

    The rub is that inside the captcha validation, this code is called:

    if (!verified) {
    captcha.initCaptchaImage();
    captchaErrorMessage();
    } else {
    document.getElementById(”v1″).value = captcha.captchaId;
    }

    What that does is that if the validation succeeds, it sets the value of the v1 parameter to the captchaId, which is something that looks like “ba5b8f81-940a-46f1-8189-1bc4952f284b” (I had to use Firefox + the Web Developer plug-in to pull that out).

    That captcha ID is unique and tells the server what the 5-digit number is supposed to be.

    So if the v1 parameter is missing or wrong, it’s a very easy call for the server to ignore this fraudulent vote.

  29. Gonzo Says:

    @ Sir, lol.

  30. PhiPhan5648 Says:

    So in short… VOTE THE HONEST WAY YOU SLACKERS!

  31. PhiPhan5648 Says:

  32. Kevin Says:

    Yeah, just type in the numbers and be 100% confident your vote counts. This isn’t Iran for crying out loud!

  33. gm-carson Says:

    Chan Ho strutting around with the Vote Victorino sandwich-board advertisement earns respect.

  34. PhiPhan5648 Says:

    8:27PM. I’ve gone through the entire Rocky series, and have been voting non-stop for the past 16 Hours. I’m officially taking a break for a while, and will resume later on today. Need sleep finally.

  35. PhiPhan5648 Says:

    I menat AM, 8:27AM.

  36. TheSportsHernia Says:

    Beefarino.

  37. obligatory fist-pump Says:

    For the Sprint Final Vote made via text message with a Sprint phone you can block up to 10-15 votes, (done on a blackberry don’t know for sure if it works on other devices) you can ‘add a new recipient’ to send the one text message to two numbers, however you just keep adding the same voting number and you can add it 10-15 times. Once sent you know it works because you get a text back confirming, obviously make sure you have unlimited texting. You can resend that original message with all of the recipients added, it works I have done it multiple times, with Sandoval having the whole country of Venezuela voting for him we need to get creative and more efficient. Victorino ‘09

  38. SteveJeltz'sGerryCurl Says:

    I voted so many times that I think I gots da car pool tunnel, son!

    Go Victorino!!!!

  39. Lynniemac Says:

    As of 10 am, mlb.com is saying Bran-Torino is leading, but keep voting. There needs to be no Sandoval Surge.

  40. martin atchet Says:

    i’ve even got my mom voting.
    she’s from detroit, and a diehard tigers fan.
    no questions asked, it was pretty easy to talk her into voting for the bran torino 100+ times
    to a) get her in the running to deliver the game ball to the mound at a tigers game
    and b) to get me to stop bugging her to vote.

    my mom rules.

  41. Pierre Says:

    Gotta keep voting. People are just waking up on the west coast and Pablo will definitely get a surge in the last few hours.

  42. Here Come Da Judge Says:

    PhiPhan5648 you’re the man

    i like typing in the numbers because then it makes it look like im actually doing something at work

  43. Mr. Bryan Says:

    Ha! My Mom is in the Vote Victorino pic above.

  44. Gonzo Says:

    @ Hernia: Every time I hear the Beefarino song on Seinfeld, I substitute it with Victorino.

  45. Dylan Says:

    um thanks for letting me know now…i voted a million times w/ google chrome

  46. bigmyc Says:

    Can’t talk..voting.
