Cole’s not a pitchman – he’s a pitcher, man.

Phillies pitcher and receiver of no run support, Cole Hamels, shot a commercial recently with the Jeff D’Ambrosio Auto Group in Downingtown. The self-proclaimed #1 Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/Mitsubishi/Suzuki dealer on the East Coast stuck him with two radio nobodies, gave him two lines to say, and figured this would have the Dodge Rams flying off the friggin lot. It’s rather stupid and unnecessary, so for Cole’s sake, I hope he got a free car with a powertrain warranty out of the deal.
Enjoy?:

The Lidge commercial is much better.

Way better than Victorino in those car dealer commercials on the radio. He is so bad. “Tell them the Flying Hawaiian sent you.”

Nowhere near as good as Ruiz and his radio spots.

I actually saw this last night, it was one of those late night infomercial deals, and the better part comes later when Cole explains why he went to Jeff D’Ambrosio. Kannon (his real name no doubt) says he went there because he’s got shitty credit, which isn’t shocking considering he works for Wired 96.5. But Cole says he went there because he’s new in town and they treated him right.
Something tells me his “newness” had nothing to do with how they treated him. And I think by “treated me right” he means “gave me a suped-up Dodge Ram for free so now I have to do this stupid-ass commercial.

Doesn’t Cole remind you of the old Clark Kent?

He looked so unhappy to be there. Like he knew he was doing something that was way below him.
