Clay Condrey’s newborn son can fend for himself
Posted by meech.one at 10:12 am ET 1 Comment

While the rest of his teammates were busy packing up for an Atlanta road trip, avid hunter/Phillies reliever Clay Condrey stayed behind in Texas to witness the birth of he and his wife’s first child.

Although his son — like all other newborns — will basically be a defenseless mound of flesh wrapped tightly in a blanket, that isn’t stopping Clay from instilling some survival tips right away. Via Phillies.com,

“We’ve got everything ready,” Condrey said. “He’s got a bunch of fishing poles already, and a bunch of lures. We bought him a little camouflage diaper outfit. He’s got camouflage shoes. If he’s big enough, I’m going to take him home in it.

Hey, I like the outdoors.”

You don’t say!

I will give credit where it’s due, though. Instead of teaching his son the joys of chewing tobacco, he plans on quitting “the chaw” during the offseason in hopes of sticking around longer,

“I’ve got to. I’ll keep a can around every now and then when the diaper gets too stinky, so I can stick my nose in the can, but I won’t put it in my mouth. I don’t want to be cut short because of something like that.”

He would also like Lil’ Condrey to speak three languages: “English, some spanish and something else.” But he’d still like to point out:

“Redneck will be his first language,” Condrey said.

Of course it will be. Good luck Clay, hope everybody is healthy.

    Congratulations to the new parents!

I see a few items left on the Condrey baby registry. Would anyone care to chip in for a Wusthof Pro- Angler 7″ Fillet knife?
