IT’S WORKING!

Last night, the venerable Chris Wheeler came thisclose to giving The Fightins some on-air recognition.
In the top of the 11th, after Ryan Howard’s BOMB to left field was hauled in by Jeremy Reed near the FreeCreditReport.com sign, Tom McCarthy and Chris Wheeler decided to take a look at the replay. When Wheels made mention of the advertisement where Reed made the catch, he nearly broke into the Free Credit Report jingle when he caught himself and realized that it would make a terrific blog post on The Fightins.
Here’s the transcription of the conversation that followed (video, after the jump):
Wheels: Right into that Freee credit report dot com… sign
T-Mac: Uh-oh
Wheels: Isn’t that how that commercial goes?
T-Mac: Well, I think you gotta draw it out a little bit more…
Wheels: No, I’m not gonna do that. Because then it’ll be on [inaudible] something like your vocal act the other day and I’d rather not feature that.
T-Mac: I think that would be great.
Wheels: Well, good. But it won’t happen. I hope. /drops subject

One can only assume that the “vocal act” Wheeler was referring to was Tom McCarthy’s awkward rendition of “We Ain’t Gonna Take It” from last Friday. If you agree with that, one can also surmise that the “something” Wheeler was referring to was The Fightins dot com, who featured the T-Mac “vocal act” on Monday morning.
It’s a bit of a stretch, I know, but I don’t think they can avoid the fanfare surrounding their popularity forever.
Sooner or later, they WILL acknowledge this site. Just remember guys — I poke fun because I love.
XOXO,
meechie

Meech it is bound to happen eventually. 9/10 posts involves the on air commentary and I’m sure they have seen it. Also don’t forget Fightins.com is Wheelers fav website.

“Right, yeah thats the thing, TheFightins is starting become HUGE(like safeco) and when a website is that big, its hard not to notice. I’m just gonna wait till Tmac gives me a nice feed thats “middle-in” and im just gonna drop the proverbial “bathead” on it and mention the site on air. That would be a HUGE(like a ryan howard homerun) achievement for TheFightins”-Wheels

Say what people will about Wheels, I really enjoy his commentary. He cracks me up, and is the only remaining crewmember from when I was a kid, still on the broadcast. (LA was a relief pitcher back then.)
