Charlie Manuel has the last word on Ibañez and steroids
Posted by meech.one at 12:09 am ET 21 Comments

Remember this afternoon when I said I was done talking about this unnecessary steroid melodrama concerning Raul Ibañez?  Well, technically, I was being honest.  *I’m* done discussing it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t post the reaction of our great manager, Charlie Manuel.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Charlie Manuel is a cot damn wordsmith.

I’m sure Raul’s upset about it.  I think whenever you make some kind of acquisition [sic] and definitely when it comes public like that, I think that someone should have to prove it.  And ya know like, and uhhh, I think that he invades your rights.  And I think that that’s, uhhhh, ya know like I think that that’s against the law if you wanna know the truth.  So that’s all I gotta say.

You hear that bloggers?  When you’re sitting in your mother’s basement forcing yourself to come up with some lame topic to write about — THINK before making some false acquisitions.  Because if you go around just tossing out acquisitions whenever you damn well please, someone who writes for a popular newspaper might take that acquisition, highlight it, and make you the laughingstock of the internet for a day.

Thanks, Charlie.  Now tell ‘em yourself:

    Acquisitions. LOLZ.

  2. FuquaManuel Says:

On another note. I think Raul was an excellent accusation for the Phillies.

  3. Gaze Says:

In post game tonight, when asked about Chase Utley, Manual’s Response went something like this:
    “I, ummm uhh, like Chase”

On another note, Amy Fadool is absolutely terrible at her job but not too bad on the eyes.

  4. Gonzo Says:

On another note. No blogger has accused Raul Ibanez of using steroids.

  5. CarlosBeltransexual Says:

I hate to be the one to bring it up, but has anyone considered the possibility that Charlie “Noam Chomsky” Manuel might take, um, performance enhancing drugs for his speaking ability?

  6. Lynniemac Says:

    Well said, Gonzo.

  7. Gonzo Says:

High five, Lynnie. You made some great points on the other post.

  8. Civil Negligence Says:

Gonzo, are you continuing to fan the flames from the last post, much like you fanned flames with your irresponsible article? Let’s move on…

I think that Charles Fuqua Manuel, Jr., Esquire is setting some great legal precedent here: making improper acquisitions can lead to an invasion of rights. If that is the case, I hope the statute of limitations has not run out for my suit against Ed Wade.

  9. meech.one Says:

Civ, that’s not the same Gonzo from the Inqy.

I don’t think you’re the only one that was confused.

  10. Kevin Says:

I am a fan of Amy Fadool, especially when the tv is on mute.

  11. Civil Negligence Says:

    Oops!

He is still a Gonzo apologist, however.

When will this site get some real celebrities, meech? I heard Andy Musser needs a job.

  12. FuquaManuel Says:

Do people here just like the phrase “on another note” or am I being mocked?

  13. Harry Says:

    1. Marshall Harris is TERRIBLE at what he does. How the hell did he ever get a job? He studders over his words and half of the time what he says makes zero sense.

    2. Do you guys really think it was wrong for this blogger to write what he wrote? (Note: I didn’t read what he wrote) From what I’ve heard he never accused Ibanez of taking steroids, only suggested taking a look at the numbers. Is that really too bad? Raul, get upset at Bonds, McGuire, Sosa, Canseco, A-Rod, etc. whose actions will forever taint the game of baseball. These are the people you should be blaming, not some nobody blogger trying to write an interesting article. Also, blame the players union because until we get better testing there is also going to be people wondering if player x took steroids.

  14. Joe Tap Says:

those damn acquisitions….they’ll always get ya! To his good fortune, he’s paid to manage, not to speak.

  15. nate Says:

a blogger saying something that isn’t true? never happens….but this guy told me once that the mets have swine flu…

  16. Tony Says:

What was with Mitch Williams and the Sarah Palin glasses last night? MLB Network is making him soft.

  17. John Says:

    acquisition, lol

  18. j_romes Says:

It was late, Mitchy-Poo must have been tired and needed Sarah’s glasses.

And when I watch Amy Fadool it’s cringeworthy. With Werth last night it was “blah blah blah happened, how about that?” Like four times in a row. And Werth ain’t no talker himself. I find myself praying she gets some sudden gift of eloquence – because I never want her to leave my TV screen and leave me with Marshall Harris.

  19. Gonzo Says:

    @ Civil:

No, I am not the same Gonzo who wrote the article. Perhaps you don’t realize I am on the side of the guy who wrote the blog, not the guy from the Inquirer.

  20. Gaze Says:

You’re both just poor rip offs of this guy:

My nose is nearly that big.
