When I was a strapping yute of 21, I ventured to the late great state of California. I say late great state because in my 20 plus years there I saw the Orange County area change from a white majority to an hispanic majority. English speaking children in schools were being slowed in their learning process by the Spanish speaking children, because teachers had to slow the curriculum so that the Spanish speaking children were not left behind for lack of understanding this country’s offical language, English. Crimes were committed and the perpetrators were never found nor caught because they easily slipped back over the Mexican border. Crystal meth which was the drug of choice was dealt exclusively by the Mexican mafia (20 somethings that cooked the crap up in their houses and used teen age yutes to sell for them). Three bedroom homes that housed 15-20 Mexicans and they all collected welfare. Don’t get me wrong there were those hard working Mexicans that came here to the U.S. legally and worked hard for what they had. But these Mexicans were far and few between. Finally I could not stand it anymore and came back to Sweet Home New Jersey, where the Italians and Irish live in disharmony and skies are blue…………………………………….
But wait. I could not believe it. There wasn’t the random Puerto Rican (nothing hotter than a 19 year old Puerto Rican girl) living family in the neighborhood. There were Mexicans everywhere. Where did they all come from? Where do they continue to come from? It is like a species of cuccarachas that contnue to multiply. Please turn off the light cause I don’t want to see.
Bill Conlin’s comments were not offensive. What is offensive is that this country is becoming Mexico North.

Yeah, it would offend me too. I wouldn’t want to be called a spic either. And for saying it’s racist ’cause he said the guy is picking blueberries at a blueberry farm well….. Why don’t you find some other jobs to work at so we can’t make a comment about your specific race. All because you dumb no talent spics don’t know how to do anything else in your life but pick blueberries. We have to watch what we say about blueberry farms…. F U. You are such dopes.

Of course what he said was racist or at the bare minimum racially motivated to get a giggle or more from his cohorts on the DNL set. His contention is if your name is Raul and you are from Vineland you are involved with picking blueberries since that’s what he thinks hspanics due in that area. He gives Raul no credit at all for having Internet access and firing off a quick e-mail to CSN. Total disrespect and a demeaning comment which most of his comments are anyway.

Would’ve been interesting to see what his reaction to “Tom from Vineland” would have been. Probably not a racial put-down or demeaning insensitive remark.

The amazing thing is that Conlin could pull himself away from consuming large quantities of food in order to be on the DNL panel that day. — Bob J.

Oh, let’s get real, gentlemen! Here is one of the most respected baseball writers of our era making a statement that was insulting to WHOM? 50% of the “panelists” discuss, or should I say argue, about topics that nobody cares an iota about! Michael Barkann is not a moderator but an instigator and most often will not even allow Mr. Conlin the time to present the viewers with statistics and on-the-money facts regarding the Phillies and baseball in general. I would prefer to see HIM removed and NOT Mr. Conlin! If something this minor, miniscule and unimportant is crucial enough to even remotely CONSIDER removing Bill Conlin from the Daily News Live panel then your show is unworthy of any viewers. It was pitiful to see Neil Hartmann lower himself on air to “apologize” to the people of Vineland and to clear the station of any responsibility over such a petty, trivial situation. Especially since the other panelists chuckled as a reaction to Mr. Conlin’s remark. I guess this gives the higher-ups of the Comcast network something else to consider besides how to justify raising their cable rates to an even higher level than they presently are or where they can best invest their customers’ millions of dollars. It’s 2008, Comcast, NOT the 1960’s. Get with the times!

This is ridiculous. I don’t think Conlin was taking a jab at the ethnicity of “Raul”. He was just making a generalization about the geographical area he was calling from. Anyone from the area knows that Vineland is right next to Hammonton which is the blueberry capital of the world. And let’s just assume for a second that he was referring to “Raul’s” race, was there anything incorrect about that statement. I think the Latino population triples during blueberry season. How is that racist if it’s just a very true observation…

R U kidding me…..how on earth was that offensive enough to warrant a suspension! Comcast is pretty weak in my opinion and I am now considering moving my business elsewhere. I don’t appreciate inappropriate comments but that was just everyday humor. Someone has to take a pill & relax. We have enough other problems to worry about in today’s world. This is nothing….whoever complained should take that same energy and direct it at the oil companies who recorded a 35billion dollar profit in 2008 alone! Talk about offensive! Go Phils. Cole, stop pitching to Cantu..he’s got your number man!
