Watch The World Series With Von Hayes
Posted by dmac at 12:01 pm ET 11 Comments

We interrupt the build-up to the 105th World Series to inform you of the new Camden Riversharks manager: It’s Von Hayes!

Phillies fans have been okay with Von Hayes thanks to (1) time and (2) when he took dirt from near home plate at the Veterans Stadium at the farewell ceremony. (Also, (3) he wasn’t that bad in Philadelphia.)

“It’s great to be back in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area, and I’m extremely excited about managing the Riversharks this upcoming season,” Hayes said in a press release in a quote that is totally full of press-release speak. “I’m sure we’re going to have a great year, and there is no mystery about it — our goal is to win the championship.” The championship of the Atlantic League isn’t quite as good as back-to-back championships of the National League, but what can you do?

Oh yes, this gets better. Not only is Von Hayes the new manager of the Camden Riversharks, but you can watch Game 2 of the World Series with him!

Hayes will be introduced to fans on Thursday, October 29th at 7:15 p.m., as part of a World Series Meet and Greet party at Campbell’s Field. The event will be open to the public and there will be no admission cost. Reservations are suggested but not required.

You don’t even need to plan ahead. Thursday at 6:30 p.m., you’re sitting at home and you decide you want to go meet Von Hayes at Campbell’s Field, you can just hop on PATCO and head to the Camden waterfront! And then suddenly you’re watching the World Series with Von Hayes! I mean, you might want to watch the game with your friends and stuff, but I guess if you don’t have any, Von Hayes can become your friend.

You forgot to mention that it’s FREE! And the first 100 people to call up and reserve a seat get a signed autograph from Von Hayes. Call 856-963-2600. Reservations are recommended, but not necessary – you can just show up. Gates open at 7:15.

  6. twc84 Says:

Quite possibly his greatest contribution to the Phillies came when he was traded to the Angels for Ruben Amaro

  7. 2inthe1st Says:

I can’t believe what I’m reading! Von made some incredible contributions to the Phils. Such as leading the NL in runs & extra base hits in 86′. Not to mention his 2 home runs in the 1st inning on June 11, 1985 in our pummeling of the not so amazin mets…I will be there with my #9 jersey on! Do they serve beer at Campbells or will I have to wander the streets of Camden in search of some brew?
