Jose Mesa is still available for spot starts. If anyone can find which assisted living facility he's in.

Michael - yes to your hitting question, but because it is misguided. If we were only good 1-5, then the bottom of the order would be more relevant. However, in recent years, we have had legitimate hitting options 1-6, possibly 7. Feliz never really panned out well, but he was at least a legitimate hitting threat (I use that liberally). That's why it was always so easy to not care what Ruiz was doing with the bat. Right now the Phils have competent hitting 1-8, and 1-7 are generally all decent with the stick. In that context, I don't care what 8, and maybe 7 is doing at the plate. If they can prevent runs, with out lineup, they may be just as useful.

As for the rotational question, I made my point above. If there was legitimate debate about bringing in a free agent or trading for another arm I think it would be a much more interesting discussion. From what I ignored above, we are discussing Moyer v. Kendrick. What we have to go on is recent regular season performances, and both fail miserably. If one of the two of them is going to get the nod, then no, it's not important who it is - just hope they are able to eat some innings.

Something tells me Moyer has found a fountain of youth. Problem is it will dry up in the heat of July and Kendrick will be the 5th starter. Besides it's 1-4 that'll make the diff this season.

@Eric Why would you not care about the fifth starter? Should we also just say "who gives a fuck" about who bats six-seven-eight because the first five guys are really good already? On a site whose audience (including myself) just genuinely likes to overthink all Phillies minutiae, who is going to make up one-fifth of the starting rotation seems like something definitely worth talking about.

I don't want Jackson doing anything other than pre-game. Franzke is gold on radio. I hate T-Mac but I'd rather keep Franzke on the radio and they should look elsewhere for a replacement for TnevershutsthefuckupneedstobeschooledonwhitenoiseMac
