Tom Gordon FTL, big time: two walks, a single and a granny. This time you can’t blame the starter. This time Flash dropped a big ol’ turd in Cole Hamels’ punch bowl.
Philly’s lead over Florida is now down to two games. Tomorrow Grampa Moyer will try to snag that elusive 40th victory so the Fightin’s can leave the Sunshine State on a positive note.

I knew the game was over as soon as they brought Gordon in.

What the hell do I know, but I was screaming at the TV for Charlie to put in Romero for the ninth. Or even Lidge. He hasn’t pitched since Monday, couldn’t he potentially go two innings in that spot?
Christ I would have taken Gordon’s son who just got drafted. And he’s a shortstop.

How is there no mention of Werth’s HORRIFIC decision to BUNT with the bases loaded? Fucking aweful decision.

To be honest I missed that part of the game, although I knew this morning it would be a close second for “most-discussed topic of last night’s loss.”
What cracks me up is when a player states, after an ill-advised play backfires, “it would have been a brilliant move had it worked” or something to that effect. Not necessarily. If I’m skydiving and I decide not to deploy my parachute to see if I can bounce safely off the ground and I do, does that make it a “brilliant” move?

Bases loaded, 1st pitch bunt with a pitcher on the mound who had just given up the tying run, walked Howard, and Plunked Burrell… someone needs to lose their job based on that decision.

…and I was upset that I missed watching the Phillies Game for the first time in three weeks… guess I picked a good one to miss, otherwise I might’ve tossed my TV out of the second story window after how it ended.
Werth did WHAT with bases loaded?!?!?!?!?
…Jesus Christ!
Well, let’s just hope the losses are done with now, as we’re headed into a tough stretch against some fairly decent teams… and let’s also hope the Mets keep losing.

Oh… and one more thing… the next time the Game is on the line, and Charlie decides to send in Tom Gordon… “Leave it out!”
Just to finish the caption.

Bruntlet stealing 3rd on his own and Werth trying to bunt? Are we some kind of circus act all of the sudden?
June 12th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Here’s the other thing: Werth got a freakin hit off Gregg the night before! WTF?!?
