It is a tragedy that the old nigra leagues were rendered obsolete, teams and leagues for the nigra culture, put out of busines, like the pre-integration nigra businessness. Excellent portraits of playing homes of the game that used to be. To hell with the $10.00 hotday, multimllion dollar salaries and tax write offs for business tycoons. To hell with all of it, and the wholly nigraized NBA.

Great post. I had no idea Chief Bender was buried in that cemetery. A lot of my relatives are buried there, and I grew up about five minutes away. And the As museum is really cool. I always like talking to the old timers who run it who I assume are all volunteers.

But I got to take issue on the cheesesteak. It’s bad enough that when out-of-towners talk about cheesesteaks they always mention the nasty cheese whiz. But for the tourists who want to go to Geno’s, they can have it. But it breaks my heart to see a local order it. A cheesesteak has real cheese on it, preferably provolone. Cheese whiz is an abomination.

Great post! I plan to visit all of those places this off-season. HERE is a blog post from a friend of mine. It was written last year, when the Phillies were about to embark on their first trip to the World Series in 29 years, but the sentiment still carries. Enjoy!

I love Steve’s Steaks…by far my favorite cheesesteak place.

Also, I live about 5 mins from that A’s museum. I stopped in there about a month or so ago, they have a lot of cool shit in there. Almost picked up a few things, but I’m a bit short on funds lately so I wasnt able too.

i love this site and especially this post. i go to temple, and live in manayunk, and enjoy many of these not so famous landmarks on a daily-ish basis- it’s nice to see someone else appreciating them i haven’t been to the a’s museum though, but now i will!
