Last night’s Phils/Rox baseball action was temporarily delayed in the bottom of the 7th when a scantily clad (female!) baseball fan decided to prance around the field wearing only jeans and a bra. Of course, neither the Philadelphia nor Denver TV feed showed her running on the field (I checked) but I did find this:

I appreciate her gumption – I really do – but honey, if you’re gonna get drunk, wear Mardi Gras beads and streak, well… TAKE YOUR TOP OFF!!!

Thank you.

John Daly!

Yeah, that’s right, fresh off his missing-of-the-cut by 11 strokes at the PODS Championship in Palm Harbor this weekend, golf impresario John Daly graced Clearwater his presence to practice with the Phils today.

Daly, who actually left the golf course Friday afternoon during a rain delay to drink at the “Hooters Owl’s Nest” off of the 17th hole (seriously), threw on a Phillies jersey and cap, most likely threw back a half-a-case of Coors Light, and tossed some BP to unsuspecting prospects. He even told manager Charlie Manuel he throws “85 miles an hour.”

Jamie Moyer better watch out.

And don’t laugh, Daly doesn’t look much different than John Kruk did in Spring Training 15 years ago. Read more »

Allow me to introduce you fine readers to Jade McCarthy. This lovely female is a sports anchor for NBC10 here in Philadelphia. She’s a pleasure to watch on a nightly basis and if I listened to her, I’m sure she knows a shitload about sports.

Anyway, she ventured into the Phillies locker room after the team clinched their first pennant in 14 years and I got screen grabs — revel in the hotness:

Haha, check out the evil smirk on Michael Bourn’s face — classic.

After the jump, check out the other two, not-as-hot pics…

1 down. 1,405 to go.On Tuesday night, the reigning NL MVP did something offensively that he had never accomplished. The big guy stole his first base.

In the bottom of the 7th inning, with a 5-4 lead, Ryan Howard hit a 2-out single up the middle. As Aaron Rowand took the second pitch (a ball) from the Dodgers reliever Rudy Seanez, the speedy Howard saw an opportunity to get into scoring position and took off for second. Catcher Russell Martin, obviously perplexed from the speed of the plump First Baseman, didn’t even bother throwing down to second base. Howard slid anyway, and succeeded in swiping the first base of his MLB career.

“I didn’t think he was going to run, so I didn’t throw over there,” Seanez said. “Next time, I will.”

You might as well send that memo out to the rest of the National League.

Tonight, Ryan Howard became the fastest player ever to hit 100 home runs in the majors.

And he crushed it.

In just the 325th game of his career, Howard took a first pitch fastball from the only good Reds pitcher, Aaron Harang, deeeeep into the Ashburn Alley section of Citizens Bank Park. To be precise, it traveled 505 ft., which also happens to break the record for longest homer ever hit at The Bank. Topping his own previous mark by 9 ft., set last year against Marlin Sergio Mitre.

Using photoshop teckmology, I’ve gone ahead and approximated where the ball landed with a spotlight, while dimming the rest of the stadium. Nice, right?

As a “writer” for the Phillies, I have a habit of saving an inordinate amount of player photos on my laptop. A majority never get used, so every once in a while I like to sort through the various folders and clean them out. The other day while deleting some pics from Spring Training, I noticed a shot of what seemed to be a scar on Ryan Howard’s left arm. But upon closer inspection, that “scar” looked more like he had been branded. Being that I have zero Photoshop skills, I forwarded it to someone who does and asked him if he could zoom in on it.

Check out what I got back:

Yup, looks like a brand to me. How did this go unnoticed? What’s the significance?

After the jump, I’ll do my best to figure it out…
